Thanks Michaele for you suggestiongreenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread |
I asked for creative ideas for lining drawer and shelves. Michaele suggested I Mod Podge fabric. I tried, only I used Elmer's glue-all cause it's a lot cheaper, it worked nicely. I haven't finished the project, yet, but what I have done looks great. I haven't 'attached' it to the drawers. I painted the glue on the fabric and let it dry, then cut it to size. I used leftover material and bought some for two dollars a yard at Wally world. I'm using several different patterns in blues and purples. Really gonna be nice. thanks for the idea Micaele.

Glad it worked!

Another idea, which also works on walls is to use liquid starch instead of glue. This trick is used by folks who live on base in the military, as they are not allowed to wallpaper or paint. I have not done this myself yet but have seen it done on HGTV once and it really looks great. The cool thing is, it will not hurt the walls at all, and you can just peel it all off if you need to, or just want a change. And if you think about all the fabrics, you could do borders of different fabrics, get really creative (this for the walls of course).

That may have been a little confusing. You actually glued the fabric and let it dry for the drawers. For using the starch, you use is like you would wallpaper paste.
