How do I cut a video cd to place them on 2 cds using tmpg encoder.

Answers

Before encoding with TMPGEnc, go to setting-> advanced-> source range. Save and run the two files independently or use the batch selection to encode the two files.

If your file is already in the mpeg format, de-multiplex the file and continue as above.

Hi im useing avi2vcd tool does this mean that once i have my MPEG1 file i can't cut it then? Are you saying i will have to put it back to avi split it and encode it again???

Im halfway through converting my avi so please let me know. I was gona use avi chop or tmpg options to chop my MPEG1 file!!

Hey........what if the movie has a bad frame and I want to cut that frame out because it won't decode do I use the TMPEG to do this and will the movie continue on or what do i have to do to splice the movie back together? Thanks

Yes, TMPGenc can be used as an editor, but it's not a very useful one. It should only be used by people who are too cheap or too poor to afford a real editor. There are much better commercial editors if you don't mind spending some money. IFilmEdit costs about $50 US I think and can edit MPEG-1 video. Womble (www.womble.com) makes MPEG2VCR which can do frame accurate MPEG-1/2 editing. It costs $249 US because of the MPEG-2 support, but it's a terrific program. They make a MPEG-1 only version for ahout $50 US I think. It's very easy to split video, remove bad frames, etc. using a commercial editor, but it's quite painful and time consuming to do the same using TMPGenc. I don't think it's possible in TMPGenc to just remove a single frame, although it can be used to split files into various lengths without a lot of trouble.

Dear All

I was trying to edit a 4 min (50Meg) track from a VCD (containing CGI animated images). However after editing using several video editing software, the file size of this edited track still remain 50Meg (though it shows the duration is 3 min). I merely did a simple cut/trim of the 1 min initial part of the track. Logically the edited track after saving should result in lesser than 50Meg but this is not so... Thinking that this edited track is really trimmed (even though no change in file size), I open this edited track using another video- editing s/w and it is as though edited. So I decided to burn this track into a VCD. Strange enough, the trimmed part of the track presented itself and looked as though it is not edited at all...

The question is how do I save this edited track and retains its quality without compressing. Is there a PC/Mac software that will do the simple cut/trim and then save without compression?

Thanks! I have been checking high and low for answer to this puzzle... Please help...I am a newbie in video-editing...
