Norway - Bank unlocked over Christmasgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Y2K discussion group : One Thread |
Two men out walking on December 26 went past the bank and noticed that the sliding doors opened automatically. They warned police and a security company arrived to shut down the bank. Officials for the savings bank confirmed the incident. "Something has clearly failed in our systems. The door has probably been open since Christmas Eve," said information officer Tone Jensen. Security staff will now carry out a full system check. "We still haven't managed to determine if someone simply forgot to shut the door, or if there has been a mechanical failure," Jensen said. Despite the invitation to random visitors, the open doors are not supposed to have exposed the bank to a break-in. "All valuables are secured outside of business hours. We have reliable alarms in the building and surveillance of the premises. All movement is filmed, and if something moves an alarm sounds at the security office," Jensen said.Aftenposten
