With Montgomery County real estate and personal property taxes due Wednesday, computer glitches continue to wreak havoc in the office charged with collecting them. The county administrator and the county treasurer disagree on the severity of the problem, however. For two-and-a-half years, a computer system bought to ward off Y2K problems has garbled addresses and names, skipped printouts of tax tickets and delinquent notices, and assigned payments to the wrong debt, longtime Montgomery County Treasurer Ellis Meredith said Monday.
