Now We Will See Islam For What It Is

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread

Now that the Ben Laden tape is out the Islamic community has an opportunity to come out against this type of violence and in defense of the U.S.

Will they?? Most certainly....not.

Ben Laden is not that "far right" of the center of Islam. We will now, in black and white, see Islam for what it is....i.e., the enemy.

My seminar notes on Islam are still avialable.

Duane....

I would rather you not. Otherwise.....a debate starts over that.

I've got a couple more requests to get out....and then I will be up to date.

It's on its way Bill!

I think I can paste/post them here if it is ok with you, Danny.

Firstly, the name is "bin Laden" - at least get the man's name right. It is in all the newspapers on a regular basis (or are you too insular to read them in case you see something nasty or un-Christian?)

By saying that Islam is now "the enemy" you demonstrate that you have no tolerance whatsoever of other people's beliefs. I know some Islamic people and they are kind and generous. They are abhorred by what Osama bin Laden has done in the name of Islam. And before you ask, no, I'm not Islamic.

I would have thought a "christian" would preach tolerance and not bigotry. That you base your comments on a video tape is even worse.

Pull your head out, Danny, and exercise a little understanding.

Why don't you show a little integrity and at least give us a name to call you?

What bigotry is in Danny's post? Read the other thread concerning Islam why don't you. I think it's called "Is Islam a threat to national security?" I too know some Muslims. I also know some former ones who have converted to Christianity. I have one in the congregation I preach to every Lord's Day. The Muslims I know are very nice people but have not read what is in the Koran, or at least do not follow it. In my discussions with them, they are very ignorant of their own writings.

The former Muslims make no bones about it. They will tell you flat out they are the enemy. They are an enemy of the State, unless it is a Muslim state, and their teachings lead to a belief in a false god, which leads to hell. In what way is Islam NOT an enemy??

BTW, I appreciate how you let us know that our views are bigoted but yours are on such a higher plane. Please forgive my ignorant questions for I am not on your level of understanding. (In case you missed it, that was sarcasm). Your argument is anecdotal at best.

I posted that last one before I meant to.

There is some non-anecdotal arguments on the other Islam thread, i.e., quotes from the Koran showing an intolerance of anything non- Muslim. If it weren't so sad the "Christians are intolerant" claim would be funny. The Muslim holy book says to kill anyone that's not a Muslim. A Christian comes along and says that that's a threat and the Christian is told he's intolerant. Amazing!

BTW, the Arabic has no direct correlation into English so one spelling of his name is as good as another. If you, like I do, watched a variety of news chanels, you would see different spellings of about everything Arabic, including bin Laden's name.

Dear Hmmmmm,

If you won't buy into Danny's notes, how about George W. Braswell Jr's?

Braswell lived in Iran seven years, serving at the University of Tehran as a comparitive religions professor. He trained Muslim missionaries and preachers in his job there, though he wasn't and isn't Muslim. Braswell has written "Islam: Its Prophets, Peoples, Politics, and Power" and "What you need to know about Islam & Muslims".

Islam might seem harmless on the surface, but they are, despite what George Bush politically expediently says, are quite militant. When Muslims claim they promote peace, they actually mean the kind of peace that comes with submission, i.e. they intend to conquer the world, either by persuasion or if necessary force, and thus usher in peace by world dominance. Dig, Hmmmm, dig, and you will find the truth.

To "Hmmm" (AKA "ye of little integrity"): Do you have anything better to do than criticize people for spelling? Just today I saw a national newspaper printing his name as BEN Ladin. Truth is, it is an arabic name, in arabic characters, and this is just a transliteration of the name. Which is why you can find their holy book spelled Koran, you can also find it spelled Quran. You can find the terrorist organization being called al-Queda, al-Qaida, etc. Does it really matter? No. Get off your high horse.

The silence of the majority of Muslims on condemming terrorism is truly deafening. I love Muslims as people, but it's becoming all the more clear just how in error and unredeeming Islam is.

This is the kind of debate that really goes round in circles!!

However, given the point raised by others above Islam does acknowledge violence as an acceptable outlet to deal with others who don not share Islamic beliefs.

To me, this is made "official" (for lack of a better word) by a nation state (Afghanistan) proudly claiming to be the "purest" Islamic state in the world. To this end they destroy ancient monuments that they consider an affront to Islam (the Buddha statues) and basically treat women as third class citizens with no rights.

Any religion which does this cannot be considered a friend - especially if they harbour known terrorists....

Thanks for those of you who give solid apologetical material about Islam. I was preaching a sermon about the difference Jesus makes in our lives and the comparison in the other thread of statements from the quran and Jesus was very compelling to say the least when I used them.

More would be better if it could be posted. And Danny, if you prefer not to post it, could you email it to me? Thanks
