If I'm remembering correctly,Polly has her surgery tomorrow. She's getting herself a mafia necklace. Sounds like a real fun time, doesn't it? So, if you would send her your good thoughts, best wishes, prayers, a big hug or whatever,I think she would appreciate it.Polly, I mailed you something that should make you smile. It's not powdery, lumpy or wrapped with alot of tape, so you don't have to open it underwater, this time ;oD
Now you behave for the nurses, you here? You know how much power they have. You have my permission, however, to tell the doctors what to do and where to go, all you want. Just like every other day.
Lots of good thoughts coming your way.

I'll be thinking 'bout ya, Polly (while I'm on the pot:-)!!! Ever since your advice to me, I've found that I do my best "meditating" there!! Hope you can feel the love coming thru.Hey there Sharon....!!!

Me want to hug her too, O.K.? Don't want to miss a chance to hug! Polly is a girl, right? Don't have any idea what the surgery is about but will be sending good thought her way.Wildman, (justa hugging)
-- Anonymous, December 13, 2001
Oh yeah! Big prayers! (But knowing Polly, she'll probably roll off the table, and show the docs how to do the procedure in a just slightly better way, then roll back over!) (wink!!)Good luck to you, Polly!!!!
And Sharon! Howdeeeeee!!!!

Hope you're back on your feet again soon! Sugery is NO fun, and hospitals are no place to be when you're sick.I promise not to tell any more stories such as the flaming foot incident again for a while. Good thing I posted it before you went in, I wouldn't want to be responsible for killing you!!!
((((HUGS))))) --
Now go and make the hospital staff crazy by asking them if the cream soup at lunch is Cream of Handlotion....
-- Anonymous, December 14, 2001
Polly, Will be thinking about you today. You are so special. Love Tren

Nah Julie; it only TASTES like cream of handlotion!! Actually, it's cream of broccoli - just what I want to smell when I wake up with post-op nausea....I really appreciate all the hugs, prayers and good thoughts and wishes - between us, I think we have about all the major world religions and a bunch of the minor ones covered; so somebody is watching out for me, I'm sure!! And the warm fuzzies that come from knowing folks care are really helping to distract me from thinking about stressful things - like Hubs in there brewing coffee and eating oatmeal and toast and he KNOWS I'm starving!!! (Note to self - offer Hubby cream of broccoli soup...) I had to pick a doc I really like and trust (ONE good thing about working at the hospital; you know how to pick a doc!) since those darn ET tubes play heck with talking. I'm planning to lie really, REALLY still while he's cutting my throat! It's those darn nurses that concern me - since I won't be able to talk for about 12 hours! I fully expect to find my bed short-sheeted and all stethoscpoes and the toilet seat will be kept in the freezer until I need one! I'm making Hubby stay at the hospital and play guard dog over night! All my buds from work are planning to come up and see me; some of them are stopping by after the Psych Dept Christmas Party - put on by the drug reps, so always a happy happy time! They promised to smuggle me in some hors d'oeuvres, but drew the line at the booze - hmmph, what kind of pals ARE they?!
Well, gotta go - the date with Mack the Knife awaits. See y'all in a day or so!
(And many hugs Sharon! We gotta talk!)

Another big hug headed your way! {{{{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}}}}}}}Great to see you again Sharon!

Polly--Sending special thoughts and prayers your way for a fast recovery. Don't be too naughty. My friends who are nurses are always the naughtiest patients. Of course, they are also the funnest friends I have. I guess fun and naughty go hand in hand.

Hugs to you Polly from both me and Mom...sending good thoughts your way!!
-- Anonymous, December 14, 2001
Well, I'm a day late and a dollar short in replying to this thread but I'll still be thinking of ya, Polly.I hope everything goes well. :-)

Oh Polly my little sugar plum, my email is buggered up so I couldn't write. I send my hugs and best wishes through here then. Actually you should ask if the soup is Cream of Sum Yung Guy. Its a Chinese dish I hear...snicker snicker snicker.... Thats an oldie but a goodie. Better go before I offend someone. Love ya gal!!!

ALISON!! Naughty, naughty! Bad girl! BAD, bad, bad! Still laughing!I don't know that everyone made it over to the alternate universe while Lusenet was down; so I'm reposting here. I got home late Saturday and I'm really doing pretty well. I prefer pain to wooze, so the hydrocodone is in the cabinet; and it's not so bad - just feels like I have a brick resting on my throat all the time. I do have a really neat looking line of sutures; as Sharon said - a Mafia necklace! I'm planning to feed my patients a story about a broken beer bottle in a bar fight when I go back to work....I'm bad, I'm bad... gotta practice my strut... ;o)
I give all the credit to everyone sending me hugs and thoughts and prayers; and to having the surgery timed correctly viv-a-vis moon signs. Thanks to you all, for pulling me through this is such good shape!
The crew at work all stopped in to see me post op, driving the nursing staff nuts; but hey - THEY were already waking me up every fifteen minutes for something, so why not?! I was gifted with a pair of Grinch house slippers and Hershey's kisses (do they know me, or what?!) and Bailey; Pop's girlfriend's little 2 year old brought me in a stuffed chicken so I wouldn't miss mine at home - such a little dollshe is! I gotta admit that I was glad to get out of there, though; in spite of all the attention! Pop took me over to have the last of the drains and tubes pulled, so I plan to venture over to Sis's school for the varsity basketball game tonight. I took a nice nap in the morning, another in the early afternoon, and now just woke up from another so I hope I can last all the way through it!
Again, thank you all for being there, being here; when I needed you. Y'all are the best!!

Really, really glad that you're home, Polly. And doubly glad that all went okay! I have some local acquaintances here that have been in and out of the hospital for various medical problems, but...of all these folks, you are the one that I wish I was close enough to visit and bring homemade brownies :-)!!!
-- Anonymous, December 18, 2001
So you're goin to a basketball game tonite, huh? Can't keep the ol gal down.........say are you like one of those broads who take an hours break from the fieldwork to give birth, and then go back to harvesting rice or whatnot?Hugs and best wishes,
-- Anonymous, December 18, 2001
Man! I wish I could do that man/ape-grunt thing like they do on the tube - WE WON!! Pretty exciting since we didn't win any football games this year and had only won one basketball game so far - YEAH US! And for a bonus, I got to embarrass Jessie by telling her principal my bar fight story ;o)!Squat-Plop-Work?! Mercy no, EM; I stayed in bed and squalled for four days and when they kicked me out, I went home and cried for my Mama! Scariest time I've ever had, bar none! There's more than one reason that Jes is an only!
