Anyone interested in a reserves report?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Brain, Griffin, Quinn, Warren, Cowan, Kerr, Gavilan, Dyer, Chopra and McClen.

Ramage and McMenamin came on for Dyer and Chopra - I think. (nufc.com will no doubt know all)

Freezing conditions at Hyde United of the Unibond League. Nice little ground and friendly staff.

Not a great performance really but better than v Bolton. Coppinger and Chopra were more effective than Lua Lua and Shola last week - more movement and looked alot more bothered.

We had a spell at the end of the first half where we looked canny but other than that - usual reserve team stuff.

Dyer did about 60 mins again and looked OK. Again, I thought Gavilan was pretty good, pacey and skillful, Griffin also not bad.

The goal came early in the second half. Coppinger scored, sorry don't know who was involved in the build up. City didn't threaten much apart from when we had a couple of mix ups defensively. Brain did much better this week.

Keegan and Fazakerly were there. KK kindly allowing his photo to be taken with some NUFC supporters. No sign of YBR though.

Not a bad night really, some small comfort after yesterday's disappointment.

You should - I've been to a couple of reserve games down here in the past but none for a couple of seasons but I've enjoyed the last 2 - it's been a good laugh.

Been to Hyde a couple of times - it is a nice little ground. Saw Everton, Pool & Manure last season.

Everton had a cracking crowd @ Widnes last season - they did a free ticket promo in a local rag.

You guys must have hearts like lions. But thanks for the report Lynda.

If they'd lost, it probably would have been a case of 'What else could we expect after last night ?', so 'small comfort' probably just about says it all.

Thanks for the report, Lynda. Glad to hear Dyer made it through ok. And nice to see some of our 'forgotten men' still exist (Griffin and Barton). :-)

Who's Barton?

Dick?

Thanks Lynda. Interesting to note that our wonderful morning rag - The Journal - proclaims gleefully that Dyer played the full 90 minutes. Unbloodybelievable.

It looks like we have finally learnt not to throw players in to full 90 minutes action when they come back fomr injury.

I wouldn't say Robert is injury free, and I can't see the point of playing him at all until the tear is completely healed.

TMWOT there's no point whatever in him tearing (pun unintended) up and down the wing if he can't kick properly when he gets to where he's going.

BWTFDIK ?

They should keep you from nodding off for about 2µs Screach.
