Just thought I'd let you know that Norton AV intercepted a "W32.Magistr" virus-infected e-mail attachment on my pc this morning. NAV dealt with it summarily. The e-mail was in French and the attached file was "navigation.com".
My point in alerting you is that the e-mail itself didn't seem to me to have any of the obvius characteristics of being infected - other than not being from someone I recognised, and also having an attachment.

That's an old un :)) I think Screach mentioned it on here quite awhile ago...could be wrong about that last bit but it's definitely an old un :)

Yeh, I realised it was an old one Gav - but I thought I'd mention it anyway because of the way it came, which didn't make it obvious to me. Without NAV intercepting it I may well have opened the attachment.BTW - where you at the game last night? I'm sure I saw you in the crowd about 10 minutes before KO - sticking two fingers up at the camera? C'mon fess up!

Nope, was trying out my new superstition of not going to the game so they'll win.....that obviously is as bad as all my other superstitions.... ;))

I get bombarded with viruses daily on my POP3 email as I answer email for car dealers. I had 2 magistr attacks today, sure you havent been buying a car in South London clarky?Just make sure you have run windows update on your PC and downloaded the critical updates, else viruses such as that 'goner' one recently can run and bypass Norton, the bloody thing deletes your virus program after it's run.

How do you know which Windows updates you need? I looked the other day and the list was huge, and for me, difficult to understand. There was a `chose all` type option - should I be going for that? Also, when I run McAfee `oil change`, I`m getting a message telling me that there is a problem with my device driver (if I remember correctly), and that it should be reinstalled. Errr.....any hints on what they are talking about would be much appreciated. (:o)
