I went out yesterday and got all my "kid shopping" done all gift exchanges, nieces, nephews, stockings, and my kids stuff-plus a couple of games- came in under $100. I'm making adult gifts, so I think this is pretty good. I'm not a shopper, but yesterday was not too bad and I'm really glad to make this off my list!

I had thought about trying to make kids things but I just ran out of time. We did for my two kids-My husband(mostly) and I (helping) made a railroad layout for my 10 year old son who collects model trains. we did a minature dollhouse for my daughter. I got them each some books-I bought these last summer, and a couple of games, and some cool little (inexpensive) stuff in thier stockings.

I'm not sure that running around buying tons of stuff is going to help our economy-I think thoughtful purchases and keeping in a budget, and not going into major credit card debt is better.

I did a little shopping yesterday. With as many people as were standing in line, I think the economy will be okay! I absolutely dread shopping, especially this time of year.

I love to shop this time of year. All of the people, children, Santa, I love all the hustle and bustle. I guess that's why I live in the city.

Melissa, theoretically, what goes around comes around. You (and others) spend, and employees (people that bring home the paycheck) get paid. Too bad people don't usually give newly built houses for Christmas, eh?

I know what you mean cathy, but it seems like many people are at the end of their financial rope, nad have maxed out credit cards to boot. so eventually it seems like ther is no way we can spend our way out of a recession. Only if the people who have kept their money saved up somewhere, decide to spend, then "NEW" money is added to the economy. At least that is the way I see it...
