Before anyone suspects Josh of being a troll, let me clarify something. He is my 9 yr old son. He was born a preemie with complications, was diagnosed with Coates disease at 11 months old (numerous surgeries and once went into a coma) He only has one eye (went blind in R eye from the Coates at age 2 1/2 and ended up having to have it removed when he was 7). Basically he fit the description of the "runt of the litter" (we have 5 children). Well as most of us know the "runts" are fiestier than anyone else. He has never complained about his problems and refused to stay at the hospital after having his eye removed. He is verrrrry active (God's way of letting me know he is ok?) and enjoys reading all the input on this site. He is my farm hand and loves to help with the chickens and garden. I did not know that he was going to post anything (he is not suspose to post online without us there), but he knew we had been looking for a good place to raise a family (and a few chickens) and thought you could help. I am verrrryyy lucky to have him for a son. I have truly been blessed with each of our children. I don't mean to go on for so long, but just wanted to know who wrote this before anyone got too judgmental. Dave - you can ck both of our addresses (or whatever you do) to verify this is not a hoax if you want to. Thanks for all of your help!!! Lisa B.

Josh, you sound like a great kid. It's sure nice of you to want to help your folks find a good place to live. Sorry, I don't know of any place in AL, since I live in Kansas. Best of luck to you!

One person's troll is another person's treasure. Josh, you'll do just fine, you've got spunk. That is the most valuable homesteader trait. Think I know where you get it from.

Josh, I live in South Alabama and think it is a pretty good place to live. I live in Washington County which is next to Mobile County. I live about 60 miles North of Mobile, AL. The only thing wrong with living in Alabama is the heat and humidity. Washington County is a rural county. There is high unemployment unfortunately.

Hi, Josh! Welcome to countryside forum. I don't know of any farms in Alabama, but my kids and I have chickens too, and we love them! Don't the eggs taste good when they are from your own chickens?
