Band: I dunno, don't know any newer ones. Newer than the Eagles, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Journey with Steve Perry....

Song: Night Moves/Bob Seger or Only The Good Die Young/Billy Joel or maybe Paradise By The Dashboard Light/Meatloaf. And, I'd Rather Be Dead/Harry Nilsson.

Color: Green, as in leaves, grass, Swiss Chard and money.

Movie: As Good As It Gets with Jack Nicholson, Star Wars, and anything at all with Bruce Willis including old Moonlighting re-runs.

....Still trying to figure out the anatomy of my GI Joe doll (MY Barbie didn't date no pansy frat boy like Ken!)

Favorite Colors: blue, red

Alison, you might want to search the archives, we talked about personal stuff before too. Like favorite books -- I got a bunch of good recommendations off of those threads! :-)

JR, that was Braveheart w/Mel Gibson. He was great in Hamlet too, IMO. Ah, well, I've always had "a thing" for Mel . . . .

Favorite band -- gotta be the Eagles (and their various solo efforts), and favorite song, by the Eagles, as well -- The Last Resort. Also love Bob Seger, CCR, Gordon Lightfoot, Journey, lots more.

Movies: Hmmm, kind hard. I guess I'd say Star Wars/The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens (second in series), Hiding Out, A Christmas Story, and Overboard. I guess I'm eclectic in what I like!

Color: Well, I love LOTS of color, but my favorite must be green, although there are so MANY shades of green, that's a lot of colors too! I prefer pure greens and yellow greens over the cooler green shades, but I love the blue-greens too. Did I mention I LOVE color? ;-)

I like spontaneous puns (not the contrived ones), elephant jokes, and snarky humor. Never would have guessed, right? [hee hee]

Oh Alison I have to admit that I hate that song by Jewel. At the time that song was popular Keith had just broken up with me, and my co- worker Kara had just broken off an engagement. We worked together in a lab doing clinical drug trials for drugs for HIV and Hepatitis C. We were processing blood samples and extracting the virus, so we were dressed in sterile gowns, gloves, goggles, and worked with our hands inside biological safety cabinets. It was actually kind of mindless work so we would listen to the radio to pass the time, and every time that song would come on we would both start crying. That would mean that our goggles would start to steam up, so I'd have to pull my arms out of the cabinet, take off the goggles, take off the gloves, wash my hands, wipe my eyes and nose, wash my hands again, put on fresh goggles, put on fresh gloves, and put my arms back in the cabinet. One day I'd had enough, and when the song started playing I took the large wrench that we used to loosen the lid on the centrifuge and bashed in the radio!

I had to buy a new radio for the lab, but it was worth it! :)

Joy, I think you and I would get along great. Snarky humor! I even have a snarky humor laugh when I make a remark or someone else does. Sort of like Nelson Muntz on the Simpsons and Fran Drescher combined. (Ain't that a picture?) I started this thread so that some of us newer people or returnees could get caught up. plus favorites can change as we evolve, eh? Isn't it funny how green is so far the most popular color and 70's and 80's rock most popular music. Hmmmm...interesting..

Well, Alison, you might want to look for the thread where we revealed our ages, as well. That might give you some insight to our music preferences! Lots of us in our late 40's and early 50's here. I, myself, am 49 -- 'splains a lot about the music I like best!

Mel Gibson-my, my so fine. I don't watch too many movies but I liked Out of Africa and Dances with Wolves.

I like Eva Cassidy, Emmylou Harris, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison. For bands probably The Who, Journey, Bob Seger, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I also enjoy a lot of classical music and big band stuff.

Lavendar is my favorite color. Also sky blue, and pine green.

I have such electic tastes, this is really hard. I'd probably have different list next week, or at least lots longer.

Music: Oldies,Beatles, Eagles, Melissa Etheridge, Tracey Chapman, Indigo Girls, Dylan, Loreena McKennitt, and just about any Blues, which is my first love. I was almost totally absent in the 80s, too busy raisin my girls, so have a big gap in familiarity there.

MOvies: I watch lotsa movies, and really like oldies, but modern ones would include Powder, Boys on the Side, Cold Comfort Farm, Evita, Sound of Music, Desert Hearts. Don't care much for Sci-Fi, and cannot stand action stuff.

Favorite color is yellow, but also love purple and green.

I know you didnt ask, but I'm a Sagg.

Current favorites ;) Song: Con Te Partiro by Andrea Boccelli. Nothing like singing in Italian.

Movies: Anything with Doris Day, Finian's Rainbow, My Dog Skip and Return to Me.

Rental movies: The Sopranos HBO series.

Color: Blues, from steel blue to water droplet.

Cookbook: The New Joy of Cooking (it includes some ethnic fare now) and an older one by the Moosewood Collective called "New Recipes from Moosewood".

I haven't answered before now cause I had the grandson and I was thinking about it. I think I am like EM......my tastes changes frequently and it really depends on the mood I am in. I would have to say that my most favorite music has always been classical, mostly piano, but I am certainly not limited at all. I like jazz as long as it isn't too frantic and bluegrass and folk. The first live group I ever saw was Peter, Paul and Mary and I loved Joan Biaz. In the more popular type groups I loved Moody Blues, Chicago and Seals and Croft.

Favorite colors are green and blue, with purple coming in as favorite at times.

I love old movies and musicals. My Fair Lady, Camolot, Sound of Music. Most recent real favorite would be Dances with Wolves.

Favorite books would be the old classics, Louisa Alcott, Pearl Buck; but I admit to reading most anything just to see what is being written. I am 57.

Hey cool, Alison! Someone other than me on this forum loves the Bare Naked Ladies!

I remember when we had a discussion on the forum regarding favorite bands a few months ago. I seem to remember quite a few here making fun of the name Bare Naked Ladies - I think they thought I was making up the name of the band! :-) Smashmouth, R.E.M., U2, and Lenny Kravitz are a few more of the *numerous* groups that I like.

Favorite color: Prussian Blue

Favorite movie: The Matrix

Here's a link to a [thread] where many of us posted a little bit about ourselves. It was started shortly after BTS was created.

Jim, have you seen the Ladies in concert yet?

No, unfortunately I've only seen some excerpts on t.v. from one of their concerts. From what I've seen on the telly., it looks like a lot of fun.

But I'd go in a heartbeat if they made a swing through Minnesota. I'm gonna have to see if they have a web site as I have no idea when/if they'll make it through MN anytime soon...
