Cleaning Leather

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Does anyone know a good method of cleaning leather? I am mostly talking about dust. I can buy a cleaner. It is $7 for a small bottle and doen't last too long. I have 2 leather couches and 2 wing-back reclining chairs. I don't want to hurt it, but I wondered if there might be some home-made solution. The one I buy leaves the furniture kind of glossy. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Saddle soap?

Murphy's Oil Soap is the best for light duty cleaning of leather goods, just follow label directions for making up a cleaning solution. You want to make sure your rag you use is rung out well when you use it, so you leave no standing water residues or it will spot the leather.

You can make up the solution and store it in an empty container for future quick and easy use, Murphy's is a wonderful all purpose cleaner, and it leaves a refreshing light odor! It was my staple cleaner when I was a professional cleaning lady up North.
