My silkie hen as recently began "rattling" when she breathes. It sounds as if she might have a cold or a little fluid in her lungs. But she seems to be doing fine otherwise. Does anyone know what she might have and the treatment of it? Thanks Kelli

What we use is Aureomycin antibiotic powder. It is in a yellow and white bag at any feed or farm store. you mix it with water & the dosage for chickens is on the back. It is cheap and has worked well for us.

Kelli... I had a problem like this start about a month ago, then the eyes started mucking up and staying closed. My vet diagnosed a most likely disease called infectious coryza. Has your hen improved? Mine did, then 3 more got it. It stays in silent carriers. I'm now trying to locate the vaccine ... Please email me and let me know. Michele.
