Little Bit I think your forum is fine. I guess a lot of us post at a bunch of BB's. I know between my wife and I we participate in over 13 BB's. I check in here about 5 times a week to see if there's any new threads. Lately Commons and Freedom are slow too. Might be that everybody's trying to get ready for Christmas.

Hang tough.

I agree with Kenneth; I think between Christmas rush and other bulletin boards, we are feeling a little more pinched for time. Personally, I like the format.

I really like the threads you put on, especially the 1812 bride. I'd like to see more garden questions, but it's winter, maybe that's the problem. Hope you keep it going.

Nothing wrong with this forum - like any group it just needs time to grow. Plus - sometimes I forget how to get here - oops.

I really appreciate those who took the time to answer this question. I was just trying to get an idea of the things that people were looking for to make the forum more useful to them. Honestly there are certain areas I feel lacking in experience to post about. Some of it is the more technical side of alternative energy. I have practical experience using alternative energy, but I have no technical expertise whatsoever. If there is someone out there who does have some useable knowledge to impart, it would be great if you would share. I find particularly interesting the smaller projects that even us dummies can use to reduce our public utility consumption. Anyway my goal here has been to really provide a forum that has the primary focus on homesteading and all the subjects that affect the homestead. I have tried to minimize the doomsday theme, not because I don't think there is a place for it, but because I feel we need practical advice for how to survive period. All of you know that I am not into pretending things are what they aren't, but for me the fact that they are the way they are is even more of a reason to become self-sufficient. Of course all subjects are welcome here and we will discuss anything you like. I am however trying to maintain a balance of subject matter. Cindy, I'd like to know what kind of things you would like to see on gardening?

P.S. There is no chance of me shutting this forum down. Ultimately, as my son would tell you I am just too stubborn for that. My attitude toward failure is that I just don't fail.

Oh, I don't know, anything to do with gardening, or any homesteading topic, the nitty gritty stuff. I don't do the political stuff very well, but I read what others have to say-unless it's too long of a post, (bifocals and dyslexia)

Little bit It has just been such a great winter here in Indiana this year I have been to busy outside to put much time on the computer but I do like this site. Indiana Country friend Jack bunyard

a web page that we all can reference and/or point others to when they have a question of a general nature. i.e. i have seen a lot of people give links to web pages that they either use or found to answer someone's question. it would be nice to have a webpage with these links on it. maybe in catogories rabbits, horses, equipment supply, etc.... i would like also to see a link to the other bb's that people use to get info. i now know that there are some on yahoo, but there are so many different ways people name them. can never have too many resources to pull from. maybe have something on the site that gives a little info about each others "jobs/work/hobbies" so that people could trade or help each other. (buy each others products) maybe start a "website" forum topic, that people can write in their favorites/bookmarks, and be a central place for people to check for updates and request a link to be added to the page. plus (given enough room) we could have a "members" page with pictures! just a thought. doesn't make the forum better, but it sure would supplement it.

Hello LBF, I check your forum everyday for new post that I can either read or contribute to. When there is nothing new, I just switch over to the other forums. I think that if you contributed more open questions about subjects of interest you would have more responses and that could help the forum grown. As it stands, I have not seen more than just a couple of new post in weeks.

I will work with it for awhile. I remember that at one time about a month or so ago that there was no post in such a long time that it was not even listed in the top catagories with the other forums on lusenet. Please do let that happen again as you will probably lose the posters that you already have attracted here.

Sincerely, Ernest

Ernest, I have been very busy moving. I have posted as often as I can. Rather than waiting for someone else to post why don't you ask a question yourself? A forum (any forum) is not supposed to be about the list owner doing all the posting. If when you stop by, you don't post unless someone else has, then how can you expect others not to do the same? This forum will only stay on the list you are talking about if everybody involved posts when they can. I understand that you may not like posting and would rather cruise over to a busier forum where you can let others do the posting and just contribute when you feel like putting your two cents in. Unfortunately a small forum like this will not allow for that. If there is some topic that you feel isn't being addressed please feel free to address it. There is absolutely no way I will be able to come up with every topic for discussion here. I also am not a mind reader which is why I posted this question along with a string of others. Why not go back in the files and count how many times I have posted versus everyone else. In other words, you are preachin to the choir.
