YES! I did it the plain way, get a 3 to 4 lb chicken, add about 1/2 cup water, some salt,pepper,whatever other spices you so desire,and put on low for 5 to 6 hrs and the chicken will fall off the bone. Use the remaining water to cook your egg noodles in. Best in the World

YES!!!I never roast them in the oven anymore.... MUCH better when done in the crock pot. I don't usually add anything, but once in awhile I'll throw in a chopped onion or garlic and pepper. Also, I don't try stuffing it. I think the stuffing would be soggy, so I cook it separately.

Sometimes, I put the chicken on a nest of celery and onions in the crockpot! It gives a little different taste to the chicken. The broth is great too!

Works great! I like to have the chick turned, so I leave a note for whoever see's it first. "Turn the Chick at 1:00" (This message is best left on the bathroom mirror!)I also add a few onions and a clove or so of garlic, salt and pepper.

I have a friend who prefers the taste of her older fowl, roosters included. She's always cooked them long and slow in the crockpot for delicious fall-off-the-bone tenderness.

Doesn't chicken cooked this way come out awfully pale? Do any of you brown it any way before eating, or do you just use the meat, shredded or chopped?Just curious.....

This works really well with turkey breast as well. Dab on some butter and season. The meat falls off the bone and is very moist.

I've done chickens, cornish hens and turkey breast. I don't add any water and always have plenty of wonderful broth for gravy too. I just season with salt and pepper.

I've done chickens in the crook pot a few times. They seem to come out "greasy" to me, so i don't do them that way anymore. I did buy one of those stands that holds the chicken upright on your oven. You put a dish underneath to catch the drippings. I love them this way. The moisture that cooks out into the dish steams back up into the chicken keeping it moist, the oven browns the skin, and the fat runs out into the dish! My parents bought one of the upright stands years ago off a TV infommercial. I found one similar to it at a thrift store, still in the Kmart box and I only paid 10 cents! Our thrift store has 10 cent specials where if you buy to "junk" items or "brick- a-brack" items they give them to you for 10 cents each. They also have $1 clothes days! My mom, sister, 2 neices, and myself got brand new wardrobes for less than we could have bought one sweater for ata normal store! Ellie
