Poe lived with a rather wealthy adopted family, when his father left and mother died, but when his mother passed away, his father got remaried and sent hin to military school, or virginia academy, 1 of the 2, so while with them he was wealthy, but when he lived with aunt virginia and his wife/cousin SICK!! they were very por, but had the best room in house to himfor writing

Actually, Poe lived with his Aunt MARIE and married his cousin Virginia. They were all dirt poor most of their lives. Dire poverty probably contributed to Poe's gloomy outlook.
