When something hangs on for dear life in the back of your refrigerator its time to clean it!!!!!greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread |
Sorry about the long title, I was putting together a chicken dish for supper, and pull out the bottle of wine, and it had leaked, how long ago, who knows. I hate cleaning a refrigerator any way. I have one of the old models you have to craw into, to clean, there is things in the back that must be from outer space. I can"t fiqure out what they are. Don"t get me wrong, I"m a fairly good house cleaner. But there are some jobs that drive me nuts. How about the rest of you. thanks for getting off my chest. Love Irene

Sound like you've got a whole other universe in there. Before I clean the fridge I have to clean the tub. The shelves are glass and the tub is the easiest place to clean them, that was til we moved. We've got a whirlpool now9not hooked up. Guess I'll have to use the shower:~}

Things I don't like to do: clean frig, clean oven, "deep" clean (move furniture, scrub walls etc...)Things I like to do: cook, organize cabinets and cupboards, wash and hang up laundry, wax floors!
The rest I don't really mind much. I do keep the house pretty clean, because I don't like messes, but I wish it didn't take up such a big amount of my time!!

Melissa, honey, you can come organize my house any time you want. lol When my kids were around, I did that a lot too. It was necessary, so everyone could find underwear in the morning.I don't mind doing dishes. Maybe it's the warm water and the womb thing. But I do manage to get some serious thinking done at that time, so maybe that's it. I don't mind laundry either. Actually, I'd rather do it. My hubby is the kind that doesn't understand seperating the clothes. We keep our fridge pretty well cleaned out, since we do veggies primarily. They go bad so fast that there really isn't time for anything to stay for long.
I really dislike doing the floors. And the ceiling fans. Those clumps of sticky dirtballs fall everywhere and give me the whillies. I also don't like mowing. But my hubby loves it so it balances out. All the rest of the stuff I don't like I still have to do myself, so they get attention only when it looks like the health department would condemn the place or when someone is coming. Now, if I were pregnant, everything would be cleaned twice a day. lol

Favourite job: laundry. Have loved it ever since I was five years old when I stood on a chair to hang stuff on the line.LEAST favourite job: cleaning out the storage room. We have done this umpteen gazillion times for various reasons (mostly for moving) over the years, and I enjoy it less each time. I keep trying to figure out why we have all this stuff, but a lot of it is either seasonal or clothes waiting for kids to grow into. The problem is that sometimes a child will decide he/she doesn't want something, and so it goes into the storage room in drabs and dribbles, creating a mess.

Melissa honey, there is no hope for you dear :-)!!! You actually enjoy waxing floors???Of course, each of us has our own weird quirks, I would rather scrub a toilet than cook, or do windows than most anything, outside windows that is, the inside is no fun!

Oh Annie, that is so true!! I like to wax the floors because I have these neat tile that are black and gray swirled (looks like marble, but they're vinyl tile) and when they are shiny they look so good!! This lasts for about 2 minutes until a kid walks across it!!Does spraying your windows twice a year with a garden hose count as washing the windows????!!!

I HATE CLEANING THE BATHROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ever since I potty trained my son, I have to clean the bathroom(no, not just the toliet, but floor,wall )and when he brushes his teeth (sometimes3-4 times a day!!!)I have to clean the mirrors,cabnits,sink and tub(it's within spitting distance!).I wipe it down daily and deep clean on Saturday. It never fails, as soon as I get it sparkeling he needs to use the rest room, I have been know to make him go outside! How bad is that!!!

Melissa, have you tried cleaning the oven with salt? It really works. Wipe the oven with a very wet rag, pour on the salt, work it just a little, let it set up over night, wipe out, wipe residue with hot soapy water.I love to organize and balance anything, everything, I don't mind dusting as long as it's not too often. I like deep cleaning big jobs, don't like cleaning the stove, don't know about floors here, they're hardwood. Won't be any wax for sure, I'm severely allergic to it. I like to clean the bathroom. I love to clean out cabinets, closets and drawers.
When I cleaned for a living, I liked the dirty houses, I could tell I really accomplished something. I don't like cleaning a clean house.

When we moved into our house we needed appliences. I am perfectly happy with the used stove, washer dryer, ect. but I despertly wanted a NEW refrigerator. For years and years I have put up with bulky, wrong way door opening, hard to clean, awkward storage hateful refrigerators. I worked extra days and saved up money for a new frige and shopped thoughly to get the best price and even got free delivery so my husband didn't have to do anything, one day he walked in and there it was. Its not fancy, it doesn't have the drink dispencer/icemaker and all that and its not large-I was stunned how much the big new ones with all the gizmos cost! Its small enough that I have to keep it cleaned out pretty regularly. It is such a pleasure to open my nice clean shinny refrigerator-cleaning the refrigerator has gone from a hateful chore to a pleasure! I did the glass shelves in the bathtub bit for years BAH! I get my kids to clean the bath room. My son-10 doesn't mind cleaning the toliet-we got him started when he was at the "Gross things are cool" stage-I make sure he washes up carefully afterward. To "compensate" he also gets to clean the mirror and sink with this foamy stuff that my husband gets wholesale from work. He loves it. My 7 year old picks up stray laundry and "arranges" the shampoo bottles and soap. She also empties the trash. I sweep the floor when I sweep the house, and damp mop when they take thier baths-water uasaully ends up on the floor, might as well put it to good use! I hate laundry-sorting socks drives me nuts.

Vacuuming -- ugh! I ABHOR vacuuming. I would rather scrub out a dozen toilets in OTHER peoples houses than vacuum.I think it's because I can't hear what the boys are up to when the vacuum is running -- and they know it!
