My goat has a slight bloody discharge from her vulva. She is eating okay, stool is normal. She is 10 months old. Any idea why she would be having a slight bloody discharge? I looked through all my goat books and couldn't find any info.

Has your goat been exposed to a buck lately. Usually they only have a discharge if they are in labor, have just kidded or they abort.

She hasn't been with a buck, I don't have one. She wasn't bred that I know of before I got her. We looked in the yard no signs of a baby or aborted baby.

Anita, you said "She wasn't bred that I know of before I got her." That I know of :) speaks volumes! An early abortion which is what this sounds like is a very small amount of blood, a from no other symptoms to a wet tail for a few days. Early, less than 50 days and you would only see a string of mucous and perhaps if you were right there before the blood you would have seen small eyed tadpole/shrimp babies, about the size of a dime. Just watch her, write this day down on the calander, betch in 21 days she is back into heat. If this is a bladder infection she will squat to pee like an older doe and do alot of it, with not much urine appearing. Vicki

I have a few does that sometimes have a little bloody discharge a few days after they are in heat. They are usually fine and can be bred by the buck on their next cycle.

Do you happen to have a ram? Our goats have become pregnant by a ram, but abort spontaneously after 2 months, showing a small amount of bloody discharge.
