I want to thank all veterans for their service and love for this country. I know for a fact several of the regular contributors to this board have served our country. Let's remember our vets who have been promoted to glory, let's remember those who are fighting this war against terrorism and please remember the firefighters and policeman who lost their lives on Sept. 11th. Thank you, thank you! If there is someone you would like to remember please share with us. If there is a special prayer request let me know and I and St. Paul Community A.M.E church will lift them in prayer. God Bless America.

Amen!! I attended a program after church services yesterday which honored WW II veterans of our county. One of my church members was among the honorees. It was a privilige simply to be in attendance with the "Greatest Generation". QED

God bless the vets!!! A veteran may have served in war or peace, in the US or overseas, in a combat position or non-combat. They may have put in an entire career or a single hitch. The important thing is they wore the uniform, made their contribution, and left with an honorable discharge.

In my family I can point to a great uncle who served as an infantryman in WWII, and lives in a mental institution to this day because of it. I can look to his brother who was a gunner on B-29's in the Pacific, got commissioned, and retired as a B-47 pilot during the Cold War. There's the cousin who did a single hitch as a Marine working in small arms maintenance, the cousin who was drafted and served his Army time honorably, the uncle working communications in the Air Force in Vietnam, and the uncle who joined the National Guard and served as a clerk in Mississippi. There was my grandfather, who had served 88 days in the Army, then was released when WWI ended, and his brother who died of influenza in France during WWI. Oh yeah, there's me. 14 years in the Air Force working in telephone maintenance, then retraining into manpower management and working in a nice office these last 5 years. In the process I've served in California, Texas, Washington, Korea, the Azores, Italy, Germany, and Alaska.

There are no Medal of Honor recipients in this group, but when the preacher asks those who served to stand and be recognized on Veteran's Day Sunday, we don't have to remain seated. Now my son is 14. I've told him that it's up to him, but when he's a little older and the time comes for the vets to stand and be recognized, I hope he'll be on his feet. Even if he had a cushy job like me, he'll feel better about himself.

I too want to take time to thank all veterans for the sacrifices we have made for our country. Coming from a family of seven male children, and one sister, we can stand proudly and boast that all of us went through the military, did our tour, and was blessed to come back home in one piece with sound mind. Two brothers were wounded, 1 in Korean Conflict in 1949 or 50. The other in somewhere in the 60's during one of his three tours in Viet Nam. There were four (4) of us in at one time and three served in Viet Nam at the same time. I was the fortunate one that did not have to go to the Nam because the other three was there. I was a commcenter specialist, which was supposed to be cushy, but it had it's rough times. Upon completion of three years in the army, 2 1/2 in Germanyand the other 6 months stateside, a few years after my discharge, i joined the Louisiana Natl Guard where I served for another 10 years. As a matter of fact, i accepted my caling while in the N G and they allowed me to work w/ the Chaplain. I would go with him and he would set up catholic services in one room, and i would set up protestant services in another room. Those were the days. God realy manifested himself and showed what he could do if you yield to him

I would like to thank the Soldiers,Sailor,Airman and Marine who have served their country with pride. I am a Veteran of the Veit-Nam war and no Veteran was recognized in my churh this past Sunday. Please pray for all Services Members.
