God is Supreme! Same God Yesterday, Today and Tomorrowgreenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread |
Dear A.M.E family I love you all dearly. It is times such as this that we must encourage and uplift one another. When we read the Bible we read of terrorists they had different name, Pharoh, Pharisees, Pontius Pilate and Kings. Their weapons were based in fear and evil. Yet through all of their deeds God reigned supreme. God is still Supreme, his power has not diminished. He has given us his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Hold on, hold on, we will be victorious. What words of encouragement can you offer on this discussion board. A scripture verse, a song, a testimony or a prayer. We must lean on the Ever lasting arms of Christ and not be swayed by the media or forces of darkness for our God is a mighty God. What are your thoughts?

Isaiah 54:17 Isaiah 54 Isaiah 54:16-18 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.Carmen

Carmen thank you so much for lifting up the Prophet Isaiah. He indeed was anointed by God for God spoke directly to him! Isaiah was the voice for those who were oppressed, blind, or poor. He told the world that God wanted these segments to be taken care. He also prophesized for all the nations of the world and future events. It is interesting to also note that during Isaiah time "Humility" was a characteristic that was considered a gift. For if one was humble then the will of God couldbe heard and the voice of God could be heard. Paul the Apostle also had such humility for it is Paul the Apostle that tells us in his letters not to dispair and to turn to one another for enccouragement and to continue the good fight for the Lord. Wow Carmen, you certainly lifted my spirits today. God Bless you!!!!!

II Timothy 1:6-7 - "Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For GOD has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a SOUND mind."Use the power, baby.

Hmmmm, perhaps Denise you can lead us in singing that great hymn "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" for added Praise Effect!! Carmen's reference to III Isaiah is quite interesting. Someday we need to discuss the hermeneutical differences between I, II, & III Isaiah. QED

Bill it is funny you mentioned that I should sing "Leaning on the everlasting arms of Christ" our church will be doing Prison Ministry on a monthly basis beginning Nov. 14th and I am the first clergy woman allowed to sing and preach in the men's prison. God is good, for the A.M.E's are going into the prisons. Anyway I had to tell them what I would be singing, I prayed about it and "Leaning on the everlasting arms of Christ" is what God is telling me to sing. In regard to discussing the background, dates and history of Isaiah I think it a good idea Bill. Why should we wait. This is a Christian Board. So why don't we all do some research and share what we have learned. A good Christian search engine to do research is www.goshen.net one can also do a search under "Bible DictionarY" on the web and then type in Isaiah. There are also wonderful Bible reference books in the library. I love the scripture suggestions and hymns. Let's keep adding to the list. Joy in Christ!!!
