Playing SVCD on Panasonic DVD-RV31greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread |
I have SVCD burned with nero 5.5 but my Panasonic DVD-RV31 plays it with skips video & audio. Why ? Maybe it's because SVCD not supported by Panasonic DVD-RV31? Burned VCD with same file played ok.Is it possible to make a CD-R/CD-RW with DVD-content and play it on my DVD-player?

Go to www.vcdhelp.com and check the DVD compatibility list for your DVD player. The list will tell you if your player supports SVCD or if it has problems with CD-R media, etc. My guess is that your player doesn't support SVCD. No, it's not possible to make a CD-R/CD-RW with DVD content that your DVD player will play. DVD format to CD-R/W media is called miniDVD. Almost no DVD players support the format, for a variety of reasons. The compatibility list will tell you which few DVD players do support it. No major manufacturer supports miniDVD, including Panasonic :-(Just to clarify - it is possible to put DVD format on CD-R or CD-RW discs and there are DVD players that will play them - unfortunately Panasonic doesn't make players that support it.

You can trick your player into thinking it is a VCD. Look at www.doom9.net in the DVD2SVCD Advanced user forums.Brief summary, use MPEG Tools in TMPENc, select simple multiplex, selected mpeg2 file, choose output file, make sure stream is set to VCD standard, go!. Takes a few minutes, then burn mpeg to VCD in Nero, as a non standard VCD. Should work fine. But check forum, much better description.
