What kind of chicken is this?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
Hello there, I bought a little a chick a few days ago from a lady who was more than happy to get rid of it. She had around 300 different kinds of chickens running around! it took a while to catch and clean. But now i have this light gray fuzzy thing at home. I just wish i knew what kind of chicken it is..or what it will look like. It has five toes, and is light gray everywhere except on it's stomach where it is white. It also has white/gray skin. The down on its head is very light brown. ? I put it with an adult mille fleur i have already, and they get along OK. The fleur is kinda scared of the chick though. Strange. Thanks

Sound like a silkie bantam chicken. Silkies are wonderful setters. Check out www.feathersite.com

You could go to Murray McMurray web site and see pictures of chickens there. (Look under resources at the Countryside home web page.) Remember that chicks and chickens can look quite a bit different, just like children and adults.

I can email you pictures of my silkie chicks. They are about 3 months old. Put Country side in the header so I will open it
