Does Sea Salt have iodine?greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread |
Does anyone here know if sea salt contains iodide? I believe most salt purchased at the grocery store has it added, right? Do we get enough of this nutrient from somewhere else and don't need it in the salt?

I read the info. about Real Salt. It contains "iodine". My container of Morton Salt show "iodide" not "iodine". Two different things?

Terry,Iodine is the elemental (basic) name of the mineral. When it is combined with anything else it become iodide. For example sodium iodide. It is the same thing, at least as far as nutrition goes.
Talk to you later.

I've been told too much salt is bad for your health, yet reports say salt is essential in the brains ability to function. What is borderline? I've all but eliminated salty snacks from my diet, but concerning cooking; I use as little as I possibly can.
