Oil spills in the sky?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread |
OK, Me again, I know, I am talking too much. But I don't like going to any other forums so you all are just stuck with the whole of me.But hey, I went outside yesterday and looked up at the sky and there was a torquiose and pink swirl in the sky, it was really pretty. But weird! How could there be a torquise and pink swirl in a normaly blue and white sky, Now if it had been on the horizon or it had been a rainy day, it might not have been so weird. It as straight up in the sky. I hollored at Jim to come out and see it, so it wasn't just me, floating between reality and dreams, Jim saw it too. We just stared at it and wondered what it was and Jim said that it reminded him of an oil spill like you s ometimes see on the pavement, and wow, it did. It didn't last long and was soon gone. What a strange thought tho.! Oil leaks in our sky?

Our local weathercaster talked about this type of thing a couple years ago as his weather trivia and said a combination of pulutants (dust, etc.) and water vapor can produce a dirty glittering ,swirling, color changing rainbow effect depending on winds and jetstream conditions in the atmosphere.

Trendlespin: Wouldn't it be great if we could trade some of these sights? I'd trade you one albino deer sighting for your oil sky spill!!!! Gosh I wish I could have seen that!....Love Kirk

Just hope you don't find one of those "green ice meteorites" like that guy a few years ago. When they checked it out, it turned out to be the stuff they flush the toilets on commercial aircraft with. It came from a honey tank leak in flight.
