We're going to war, folks ... and the reports that I've been hearing make it pretty clear that it'll be Afghanistan. (Possibly others.)

A historical note: Afghanistan has never been conquered by an outside force. The Russians were the most recent to make the attempt, and it ended in a stalemate, follwed by a Soviet withdrawal.

In case you missed the signficance of this, forget about a couple of air strikes and sanctions. By granting "expedited" use of airfields and other facilities, NATO members have tacitly agreed to permit the United States to quietly begin a build-up of force in the region.

I say we take care of ALL the dirty laundry while we're at it ... starting with that tin-pot dictator in Iraq. Maybe Junior can finish the job that his Daddy shied away from 9 years ago. There is some evidence that Iraq had a hand in what happened Tuesday, too.

Like I said: let's send a message to these morons that if they harbor terrorists, they're going to have pay a price for it.
