No cpr, I'll go to Unk's and to church.

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2001

Some of us were busy covering the event. I'm headed back to the station now.

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2001

BTW, I also have family in metro NYC. Fortunately all are ok. Hope that is true for everyone here.

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2001

Here Lars, just in shock.

ANGER 150%

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

Me too.

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

Carlos' usual short-but-sweet eloquence says it all. Me, three.

Sandy says she feels like someone punched a hole right through her; I've been in a state of (barely) controlled rage. I didn't sleep very well last night.

The only thing that helped me control it was the fact that I was running like a madman all day long, just like everyone else in the media. I was just too busy to really think about it. Those few times that I did (usually when driving between station sites), I had to force myself to think of the task at hand.

Especially yesterday morning, when we still weren't sure what was going on and where.

I have no doubt that there are some people in Da Bid'ness who were secretly "thrilled" that there was a "Big Story" to work on yesterday (I don't need to tell you what I think of these types of people), but most of us were as filled with shock as the rest of America. I saw jaded, cynical newspeople struggling to maintain control all day.

Yesterday was the craziest day I've ever experienced. We really didn't know WHAT we (meaning: America, as a nation) were facing for the first few hours. Dear Lord, one report after another; it was shock on shock. What next? First tower 1, then tower 2, then the Pentagon, then one tower collapses, then the other ...

I have to say that I was PROUD of our stations and the way that we handled ourselves yesterday. We didn't just focus on the sensational side of the thing, we tried to help people. We were calling for people to donate blood as soon as we heard what was going on, before Red Cross made the announcement (Russ Fine, WYDE's morning co-host, is a doctor at UAB; he KNEW that it would be needed).

And our OWN personal prayers, breathed out in the midst of chaos, were answered: Trish's SIL is OK, FutureShock, Tarzan and all of the other people that we "know" online are apparently OK.

This was an act of war, people. Plain and simple. This was not a "terrorist incident;" it was an attack by a foreign power on citizens of the United States. I do not want to hear about trials and investigations.

(One old boy who called our station yesterday said that he'd donate the first $1,000 to a $10,000,000 reward for Bin Laden's head on a stick.[g])

We have known for years that the Libyans, Sudanese, Iraquis, Iranians, Afghans and others have sheltered these maggots. They are just as culpable as the terrorists themselves.

Staying focused here. I've got to go back to work after a few hours of sleep.

Hundreds of fire personnel DEAD because nobody had the information a few SCUM had...that JetFuel would burn thru the steel holding the WTC together. As a result they were sacrificed because of stupidity and a BROKEN SYSTEM.

This happened because we have many very stupid people in positions of power, PERIOD. Been saying that, and yesterday we had the point made beyond any doubt.

The FUCKING AIRLINES need to assure that their damn planes are safe and CANNOT be comandeered. Has anyone even seen any of these Airline folks on TV explaining anything? Course not, far easier to lay low and plan to ship the IDIOTS-(the paying public) around once most forget just how careless they are. Easier to leave it to the GUMBIT and the American taxpayer, more "profitable" that way. FUCKING disgusting.

You cannot have a WTC in a society which thinks it OK to grant 3 million Illegals amnesty.

We have allowed America to become UNCIVILIZED. President Bush DOES NOT HAVE THE OPTION of not taking reporters questions, get it? The folks in power HAVE TO answer, period. We do not need platitudes. We do not need the same-old CRAP which deals with MURDERERS as if they had even the damn right to exist. Find them? Like this is any fucking mystery?

Pussys in power, from sea to shining sea. If not for the LITTLE PEOPLE, this freaking country would implode like the WTC in a second.

Now let us stop fucking around and lay the wood.

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

Right this minute on CNN the Airline IDIOTS are laying out their NEW PLAN to get fucking responsible, unbelievable. "Ah sorry we messed up and it seems a few THOUSAND folks were killed by our lack of competence. As a result we will be "rethinking" our neat policy of hiring GRANDMA to police the gates". That be the BULLSHIT stripped of all the normal CRAP these doorstops spew like they exhale.

Ah thanks for "the plan". Now I would suggest you MORONS take your lazy asses down to the WTC and start digging.

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

May I suggest the end of carry-on luggage? Not the whole answer no kidding, but is this stuff that difficult? Most DOLLAR STORES do not allow their customers to carry bags around as they shop, why do we allow every tom, dick, and harry the seeming "right" to carry on to airliners duct taped boxes and huggies bags?

God Bless RudyG. God Bless New York.

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

And I say we strip search them as they board the plane!

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

Nay, your correct answer SPONGE is this...."if not for all the bleedingheart Liberals, most on them planes would have been armed and stopped this before it happened".

English Airline Pilot heard on the BBC..."America has no security measures".

Now SPONGE, do you want to grow-up or continue to be a doorstop?

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

At least THREE of the FOUR airliners were off-course. I will assume they as well were not responding to radio commands.

Now what was the plan in this situation? What will the Plan be if this happens again? This situation is way beyond "dressing-up" GRANDMA at the metal detectors. However do you think anything beyond "window dressing" will actually change?

How many planes crashing into the CENTER OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION does it take for the FAA to shut down the system?

I think it needs to be stated again...We had two commercial jetliners purposely crashed into the World Trade Center complex in NYC yesterday. We had one airliner crashed into THE Pentagon. THOUSANDS of Americans lost their lives because of STUPIDITY.

Hello, this was not some routine breakdown of security.

Today we have endless coverage from the same IDIOTS whos best thinking helped cause this tragedy. They claim they will "investigate". They and their endless list of abbreviated IDIOT organizations are ON TOP OF THINGS. Things will change, it just took HELL for us to move even an inch.

It as if all these IDIOTS are starting from square-one. They seemingly have NO CLUE who did this. Truth is, they probably don't, they are THAT clueless, that incompetent. What they are qualified to do is hold pathetic sing-a-longs, canned press conferences, and wear cheap ass Big Brother windbreakers with ATF or FBI on them.

I am pisssed, Americans are pissed. They best start leveling some sand dunes pronto or you have not seen anything yet I assure you.

I checked this forum yesterday anticipating at least a mention of the atrocity. There was nothing. I thought that strange since this forum is usually more intelligent and relatively free of the troll-types that haunt Unk's. (I consider cpr and Doc to be eccentrics, not trolls). But there was nothing, hence this thread.

It didn't occur to me Stephen that you would be overwhelmed at the station or that others may not care to "talk" about such an outrage. Mere words, there are no words.

Stephen, I have been impressed by the quality of TV coverage and the personal bravery of some of the reporters.

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

At this very minute we see a massive police action in Boston seeking "suspects". AHH why did it take until 1:20PM eastern time for this "action" to commence? AHH yes most of the BRAINS only work business hours, how dumb of me.

The stupidity continues.

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

BTW, that speech by them towelheads in Taliban yesterday should never have happened, that was reserved for the time we should have been kicking some ass.

WHEN will this pussy-ass Government and Pussy-ass President stand-up?

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

I must say that I agree with Doc on most of the points he is making here.

Also, Lars: I have been impressed by the quality of TV coverage and the personal bravery of some of the reporters.

I had the opposite opinion. I watched the TV all day yesterday (I live in DC, my work sent us home, no way I was going back out), surfed around to get different perspectives, and was amazed at the reporters not even having sense enough to STAY OUT OF THE WAY. They were harrassing police and fire workers to get their BIG FREAKING STORY. The one reporter on MSNBC was out there all day with dust all over her. Of course another network had to air their reporter later with dust all over her (she is sitting in the studio mind you) which it seemed to me was just to get their token pretty-woman-all-mussed- up on the air to counter MSNBC's.

Another reporter for WUSA (CBS) in DC spent the entire day at the roadblock at the entrance of Reagan National Airport. Like, the airport is closed and it ain't reopening anytime soon fella, so move on. This is news coverage? He also kept asking questions that had already been answered by other reporters from his own station and repeating rumors that had already been debunked by practically every network.

Most of the news "reporters" were just glorified ambulance chasers from my perspective.

No comment, this statement (and the person who issued it) is too stupid for comment. Why Doc's as irrational as the idiot soldiers working for Bin Laden.

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

I love all the news media interviews showing the RAGE in America. I love it!

(sarcasm off)

BTW, get them "black boxes people". Maybe "next time" we will think it wise to have this information in duplicate back on solid ground?

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

The real culprit is Osama Bin Laden, and the countries that have sheltered him. If we make the price for WILLINGLY allowing these people to set up training camps in their countries high enough, they'll think twice about it.

Doc is right about one thing -- when I flew to Denver a few weeks ago, I was at first impressed with the security. But then I became steadily LESS impressed the more I flew. I myself saw at least a dozen ways that I could have smuggled something on board a plane.

(Infiltrate the ground crew, hire a janitor to hide a paper sack in the ceiling tiles in the Men's room or to booger one of the fire exits so that you come in past the detectors. Just off the top of my head.)

The way the airports have been doing it, you have to go through the metal detector ONCE for a given series of flights. Thereafter, I guess you're considered "safe" and, as long as you don't stray from the flight section of the terminal, you don't have to be checked again.

I was actually surprised that these people did it with plastic knives (that's how they got through the detectors). There were certainly other ways they could have done it.

The real problem is that America has been complacent. We just ASSUMED that this would never happen here. As a result, security became lax because passengers began complaining about more stringent checks.

But none of this should detract from the fact that the real enemy, and the people whom we need to target, are the guys who did it.

I may be stupid because I forgot to lock my back door. But that still doesn't give a crook the right to enter my house.

The real culprit is the crook. I'll remember to lock my back door in the future, but that's not gonna stop me from hollering for the crook's head on a platter.

Stephen

I've heard from close friends that they have returned from deep- diving trips with 12 inch bowey's in their carry on and never thought another thing about it until today.

Minimun wage will have to be raised for these 'airport security' folks....

Deano

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2001

Deano,

It's institutional stupidity. If you work for the government (or with people who do), you quickly learn that they reduce everything to a set of instructions that a monkey could follow. The problem comes when a situation arises for which said monkey's list hath no instruction.

When I passed through the first security here at Birmingham, they had me cut my cell phone on and off. I asked, "why?"

"We just want to make sure it works. The phones with bombs in them are just empty shells."

At first, this made sense. Then I started thinking about it: it would be easy to rig a fake phone to make some lights go-blinky when you press a button. What good does that check do?

But this is how the government works. I should know, because Sandy works for Unk Sugar, and anytime she makes a suggestion like, "you know, it would be a LOT simpler if we just do it this way," people stare at her like she's a spectre from another realm.

I even once had a guy, a former Army training instructor, tell me that he could teach any subject whether he actually knew it or not. All he had to do was develop a List Of Things To Check, and it would work.

Government service doesn't always attract the brightest individuals (and that will do for the Most Obvious Statement Of The Decade until something better comes along[g]).

Frank and Fred were both in WTC Sept 11. Both still missing.

My God..I hope this isn't true.

So much sadness..so many tears.

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.

When someone is in your life for a reason it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you

physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a

godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason you need

them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die.

Sometimes they walk away.

Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered. And now it is time to move on.

>When people come into your life for a seasonit is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

Lifetime relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

I wonder if ancient lurker could provide us with some kind of concrete proof of their claim that Mutha and Super Polly were indeed at the WTC on Sept. 11.

Laura,

Nice e-mail copy, hon. [g]

-- Anonymous, October 02, 2001

Laura--

Did you write that yourself? It's good.

-- Anonymous, October 02, 2001

No, Lars. I liked it too, and as "I" so cleverly pick up on, it was e- mailed to me. I felt the same sorrow Peg did, and felt it was appropriate for the moment.

Does anyone know if Mutha or SuperPolly started the html test forum?

-- Anonymous, October 02, 2001

Well it is nice seeing everyone again

Kiss off, Hawk. You dumb doomer.

You have to be a whole lot smarter to fool the people here.
