Review of "Divine Debauchery"greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread |
My name is Rev. Alexander. I am an Itinerant Elder in AME Church. I just read the article on "Divine Debauchery". The tenor of the article was sensational yellow journalism. It took a serious issue, Sexual Harassment in the Church and reduced it to inappropriate voyeurism. The so-called writer, of this article crossed the line of objective professional journalism with half-truths, gossip, and hearsay. My guess is this writer is white with little understanding of the polity and makeup of the Church. The journey the writer describes, toward ordination and pastoring sounds strangely forgein. If the sister in question was so talented and called why didn't she attend seminary? Secondly, its difficult to understand how a chaste sister with no sexual experience could be so seduced into a ongoing sexual affair. I believe something inappropriate happened but, there seems to be more than meets the eye than shallow "Rag" reporting is revealing. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. There are Powers that have creeped into the Chruch that can only be routed out by prayer, fasting and truth telling. I pray all parties involved in this distasteful, and shameful will be healed. As on-lookers we must be alert to critque allegations and once the truth comes out have the courage to stand on the side of justice.Peace, Rev. Alex

Well, at least you presented the other side of the subject matter without being one-sided and swayed by gutter gossip and filth. As a previous writer stated well in the idioms of the Old South, "Something in the milk ain't clean."
