I have a 20 minutes MOV file which play perfectly with Quick-time player for Windows. How do I convert it to MPG without losing quality ? so that I can make a Video CD. Anyone heard of a MOV ripper ? All suggestions are welcome.

Open in QuickEdit6 as movie. Change compression settings to cinepac (millions,best,keyframe 3) avi file at 29.97 FPS. File, movie, export. It depends on the original compression format of the MOV file. I use this procedure on Sorenson encoded files. If the file is already in cinepac format, you may be able to skip this step and let TMPGEnc do it directly as long is it has the quicktime plugin.

TMPGEnc to vcd format mpg file (use the wizard). Nero, create vcd, drop in TMPGEnc video and burn. Bobs your uncle.

Sound is a problem. I think Nero converts it automatically to 44 kHz stereo from whatever it is in the TMPGEnc file, but I have problems with getting it synced with the video if the source was not 29.97 fps. It looks like the next thing to try is to demux the original video, convert everything to 29.97 then remix, but I haven't gotten that far.

Any solutions?

If you purchased Quicktime Pro, you could just use that to open the MOV export to AVI and then use TMPGEnc to get it to vcd...
