Pastor Paris,I agree with you...I think that is a fad, like bell bottom pants. One day they're in and the next day not.

Yep. Jabez, too, shall pass. I should have borrowed the book instead of buying it. I am amazed when I walk into the Christian bookstores and I see, not only the book, but all manner of Jabez propaganda and merchandise! I'm a hair's breadth away from advising folks to keep their money in their pockets. There are some sixty other chapters beyond the Jabez story that tell of even greater success and deliverance that God has given to his people. Why stop at Jabez?

Is the prayer of Jabez any different than Brother Jakes? For example. TD Jakes markets all kinds of "Woman Thou Art Loose" merchandise...t-shirts, books, wieght loss progam and the seminars (with the same subject). I knew he ran out when he printed his version (The Thou Art Loose Bible) of the Bible. I am not being a "hater" (this is what the young people say), just wonder what all of this has to do with developing my relationship with Jesus the Christ? What does it say about the people who are pushing these products? Also, why is necessary for people to keep attending his programs...look like to me, the woman should be loose after attending two conferences...Just a thought. In Love and Light, Brenda

Amen, just about the same.

It never ceases to amaze me that Christians continue to get caught up in all kinds of hype and fail to read and apply the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.I never even attempted to buy or read the Prayer of Jabez except as it is recorded in my own Bible in I Chronicles 4:9-10. Having done so, I quickly moved on to the Gospel which states that one of the disciples said, "Lord teach us to pray" and He said to them, "WHEN YOU PRAY SAY"... It would therefore appear to me that the ultimate prayer is the one taught to us by our Lord Jesus, who knew and was the living WORD of God.

I just saw a book today entitled : "The Prayer of Jesus." The prayer of Jesus had a little different focus from the prayer of Jabez. I think I'll stick with the prayer of Jesus!

Neither Bro. Jabez, Bro. Hype nor Bro. Jakes will get us into heaven. While society believes it is the fashionable thing to be in Church I'll stick with the word of God. Blessings to you allLove and Peace

I do agree that The Prayer of Jabez for Teens, The Prayer of Jabez for Kids, The Prayer of Jabez Devotional, The Prayer of Jabez T- shirts, The Prayer of Jabez bookmarks, wall hangings, framed plaques, leatherbound collectors editions...AND The Prayer of Jabez collectible coin (which has the scripture reference on it, in case you have not yet memorized it) are all extremely excessive, and borderline exploitive. Having said that, I must also say that I enjoyed reading the book, and was ministered to by the Holy Spirit as result. I am sure that many others have experienced the same. I have had several serious discussions with unbelievers, prompted by the book (Jabez appointments?). So, while I won't be sporting "bless me indeed" t-shirts (just joking - I've never seen one of those),or tying my sneakers with "expand my territory" laces (never seen those either), I do have to give Mr. Wilkerson his props for an inspiring little book.In Him,

Sister Wilson, As a pastor I am able to see all the hurting people. God has His way of placing those who need us in position to be ministered to by us. Sometimes we forget that basically pastors are wounded healers working tirelessly to minister to a people who sometimes do not fully appreciate his/her efforts. Others seem to think that since God has called him/her to a particular ministry that something is wrong if a pastor does not seem to be also focused on that ministry. I think the pastor can be likened to a physician who is a general practiciner and when someone in prison ministry for example will think that the pastor is not focusing enough on prison ministry. That is also true of other special ministries. Just remember that God has called each of us to a specific ministry. Focus on your ministry and pray for those with other focus.Blessings

Praise God for the Prayer of Jabez, the Prayer of Jesus. We better make sure we are praying ourselves. God will grant the desires of our hearts. There is no good thing God will withhold from those who walk up right with God. God wants us to prosper, the condition is, walking in obedience to God. Each believer should have their own prayer. My prayer is that we become open to all that God has done, is doing for His people. Let's be faithful unto God, our Father.Lord, help us to love you and each other. Help us to forgive one another as you have forgiven us. Help us to serve you better as we serve each other, especially those you less fortunate than ourselves. Lord, forgive us for our unfaithfulness to you. Amen. THE PRAYER OF LINDA WHEATLEY

Sister Wilson, you have to understand that Rev. Paris is a confused man; he is even confused about who/what he is. Don't you notice that he always defend Caucasians and whatever is popular to their cause at all times; that is because he left his Black family to marry a white one and has been attempting to become a member of the white society ever since. His skin is too Black to pass for white and what he does not know is they will never accept him. Let him keep trying! He has many, many issues!Secondly, he is confused about his loyalty and calling. He was Baptist, then CME, and during the last twelve years he has been a member of the AME Church but has had difficulty staying at any pastorate he was assigned; each one petitioned the Bishop to have him removed because of his negative attitude and trying to prove how white he is, although his skin color says otherwise. Therefore, Rev. Paris is a very troubled man and needs our prayers and love. Let's all pray for him and for his family and church and let him know that we love him and God loves him too.

Sister Olga Williams,Thank you for your prayers for me and my family. God will certainly answer sincere prayers. What is your feeling about this scripture: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." If you believe this as much as you believe in the parayer of Jabez, I will accept your apologies for the falsehoods you have levied against me.
Blessings

Has anyone actually read the "Prayer of Jabez" book? It is a powerful book with a powerful message. Anything can be interpreted as hype. Someone asked what is wrong with the Lord's prayer. Nothing. There is/are such things as the "prayers of the rightous and the just". Actually, I incorporate the Prayer of Jabez in with the Lord's Prayer, after I pray the Lord's prayer, etc. All of you who haven't read the book should also check out the "Prayer of Jabez" Bible Study Guide. Powerful resource. Don't knock it until you try it. With Love.

Since the prayer itself is recorded free of charge in my Bible and says nothing beyond that which the Lord gave us as a model prayer-- upon which no expansion could ever be made, I see no need to purchase any other document written on the subject. This is especially true in light of the fact that I am told the author is a resident of Forsyth County, GA where no black man has been welcomed for more than one hundred years. It is indeed my prayer that the Lord will expand both my territory and that of the author as well. I sincerely pray that this expansion would not only include Cumming, GA but Reynoldstown in Atlanta, Watts in Los Angeles, and Harlem in New York. Thus, this expansion will not simple manifest itself in any monetary gain which God might afford, but in true love of all God's children wherever they may be. Thefore, His kingdom may come, and His will might truly be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
