I understand that in Bob Hanson's Georgia Road book there is a picture of wooden caboose 2827 from June 11, 1950. This is a former-Lackawanna caboose. I was wondering if anyone knew the DL&W number? Also, how many DL&W cabooses did the Georgia Road own? Any information would be appreciated, thanks.

I've been tracking down the whereabouts of the Lackawanna wooden cabooses as it seems a couple of dozen roads bought them used, either from the railroad or via a dealer. These cars were done in HO brass a couple of times, and Bethlehem Car Works is about to offer wooden kits for them.

I can give you a very short answer to both questions - I don't know.

I wish I knew the former DL&W number of the cab in question, but I don't. Nor do I know how many of these cars the Georgia Road owned. When I saw the photo used in the book, I suspected it of being a former Lackawanna car and this was confirmed by Forrest Beckum, "Mr. Georgia Railroad". Mr. Beckum passed on about seven years ago.

By the way, the Gainesville Midland also had former DL&W hacks.
