We have a problem with fleas on our Netherland Dwarf and Angora rabbits. What type of dust can we use on them safely? Thanks!

I haven't had trouble with fleas on my bunnies but did have trouble with mites last year. You might ought to call a vet or your farm co-op store on this just to make sure. Remember that rabbit's lick theirselves all over just like cats so don't put anything on them that would harm them if it was licked off...

If these are pet bunnies that have been handled a lot you might want to bathe them in the kitchen sink using a something like Pert shampoo...(I don't know why but Pert works for fleas on our cats!)Just don't let them get chilled)

I'll be looking on this post to see what you find out in case I have the same problem some time with our 24 (count thus far) rabbits and most are Angoras! suzy

I should also remind you that you need to take care of the source of the fleas....are dogs or cats somewhere they can give fleas to the bunnies????

You can use cat flea powder on your rabbits.dog flea powder is to strong but cat flea powder is fine[ white rabbits can be sensitive to pyrethren] .you can also use sevin garden and poultry dust to but cat flea powder is more gentle.

one way, If they can stand the noise is to use a shop vac with the hoses reversed to blow air into coat [ this is used on angoras all the time for opening the coat and to get dust ect out]. then you can pick them out as you see them.
