I have a yearling Saanan goat. We did not breed her last year. But she is really swelling on half of her bag...just like if she were bred. There are only three goats here and they are all female. We do not have neighbors with goats. She acts like her usual self and eats and drinks great. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Sher

A true percocious udder would fill and mature on both sides evenly, this is caused from hormones. With just one side filling, I would bet you have a case of staph mastitis. I would milk out the one side, cleanly, and infuse her with a DRY cow mastits infusion, get with me privately if you don't know how to do it, massage it in well, keep her up on the milk stand for at least 5 minutes to let the orifice close, and then leave her alone until she freshens. Thank you for responding to my question. I am floored..I did not know that a goat that has never been bred, never sucked, and never been hand milked could get mastitis. We are very new to goats..this will indeed be a vet call.
