GRADY PLAYOFF-BOUND AFTER WIN OVER GREENVILLE

The Grey Knights travelled to Greenville Friday night and came away with a 34-14 victory. This completes the regular season with a 7-3 record and a 3rd place finish in Region 5-AA. This sets them up with a playoff game against Greater Atlanta Christian Friday night, November 22. GAC finished 2nd in region 8-AA with a 9-1 record. They are lead by 2,000-yard rusher Micah Andrews, son of former Falcon William Andrews. It will be time for the stingy Grey Knight defense to rise to the occasion again, as they have all year.

The Knights have played great all season, with 2 of their 3 losses by 4 points or less. They seem to play their best against the best teams, and will do so again Friday night. Make the short drive up I- 85 to see the Grey Knights on to victory.

GRADY FALLS TO UNION GROVE 17-14

With the Region 5-AA championship on the line, Grady fought all night but lost a close game to Union Grove 17-14. It was senior 'knight', and the following players were honored: David Edwards, Quinton James, Andrew Kinsey, Andrew Moore, Jamari Norris, Kyle Oden, Courtevious Oliver, Jason Richards and Eric Sims.

Grady falls to second place in Region 5-AA, with one more non-region game to play next Friday night (11/15) at Greenville. If Blessed Trinity beats Carver next week, they will knock the Grey Knights to 3rd place in the final standings. Either way, Grady is assured of a playoff berth, with the game scheduled for Friday, November 22.

Travel to Greenville to support the Knights in their regular season finale, and be ready for a playoff game (to be determined) on the 22nd.

GRADY BLANKS CARVER 24-0

Grady moved to 6-2 overall, and 4-1 in Region 5-AA with a win over Carver Saturday afternoon at Lakewood. (I missed the game so maybe someone else can provide the details...)

Grady plays Union Grove Friday night, November 8, at 8:00 PM at Grady Stadium. This is for the region championship, as Union Grove is 5-0 in the region. Grady is assured of a playoff berth and can finish no worse than 3rd in the region. Come out to support the Grey Knights.

GRADY FIGHTS BACK TO BEAT DECATUR 21-14

Grady took the 1st half off Friday night at Grady stadium and let Decatur run up a 14-0 halftime lead. The Grey Knights only ran 5 offensive plays in the 1st quarter, including a fumble and a punt, and 10 plays in the 2nd quarter, including another fumble and 2 punts.

They regrouped at halftime and came out with a different attitude. Obviously they did not want to send the homecoming crowd away disappointed. The defense held Decatur in their first offensive series of the 2nd half and the offense took over on their own 31 yard line. Golder Roberson hit Bobby McClain on a 28 yard pass, and Demarcus Deadwyler followed with a 15 yard run. Roberson then hit Andrew Moore for another 20 yards and 4 plays later Roberson sneaked in from the 1 yard line. The extra point closed the gap to 14-7.

The 4th quarter saw the Bulldogs and Knights exchange punts. A bad snap on 4th down for Grady gave Decatur a first down at the Grady 18 yard line with about 7 minutes left in the game. The Grady defense stepped up again, lead by Joshua Williams, Quinton Allen, Takuma Owuo- Hagood, Deandre Williams, Anthony London and David Edwards. They stopped the Bulldogs and a missed field goal gave Grady the ball on their own 20 yard line. Lightning then struck as Grady scored on its longest play of the year, an 80 yard pass from Golden Roberson to Andrew Moore to close the gap to 14-13 with 5:19 left in the game.

The defense was not through yet. On Decatur's first play after the kickoff, Joshua Williams shot through the Decatur line and blocked a lateral attempt, and recovered the ball on the Decatur 13 yard line. Three plays later a scrambling Roberson hit Demarcus Deadwyler on a 22 yard TD pass, and the 2 point conversion made the score Grady 21, Decatur 14. The Grey Knight defense held one more time and the offense killed the last 2 minutes of the clock to preserve the win.

Grady now goes to 5-2, and a third place position in region 5-AA. A win next week against Carver (Saturday, 2:30 at Lakewood) should insure the Grey Knights of a playoff spot. Make the short drive to Lakewood and see some exciting Grey Knight football.

GRADY RUN OVER BY BLESSED TRINITY 28-0

The Grey Knights fell to 4-2 after loosing to Blessed Trinity Friday night 28-0. The first half was all Blessed Trinity as their running attack ran up a 21-0 halftime score. The only highlight for Grady was a 75 yard TD pass from Marcel Roberson to Kyle Oden, but it was called back because of a penalty.

BT opened the 2nd half with their running attack going full steam and ran up the score to 28-0. Grady responded with a drive, highlighted by a 44 yard pass from Marcel Roberson to Kyle Oden, but the drive stalled deep in Titan territory. The Grady defense held Trinity and Grady mounted another drive starting at their own 11 yard line. Alonzo Dennis came in at quarterback and started with a 12 yard run. Jesse Gordon then followed with a 30 yard run and Dennis hit Kyle Oden for another 15 yard pass. However, as the 4th quarter started, an interception stopped the drive.

The never-say-die Grey Knights mounted another drive late in the 4th quarter as Alonzo Dennis hit Andrew Moore for 30 yards and Kyle Oden for another 10 yards. The Titan defense held one more time and they ran out the clock to end the game.

Grady will rebound from this next Friday at Grady stadium against Decatur. Come out for the 5:15 homecoming game and see the Knights "Demolish Decatur".

GRADY DROPS CLOSE GAME TO NORTH ATLANTA 26-22

Grady suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of 4A North Atlanta Saturday at Grady Stadium.

After a tough defensive struggle left the first quarter scoreless, North Atlanta struck quickly in the 2nd quarter with a 60 yard pass play to the Grady 8 yard line, and took it in from there for a 6-0 lead. Grady came right back 3 plays later as Alonzo Dennis hit Bryan Hendricks with a 42 yard TD pass, and Lukas Rentch hit the extra point to give Grady a 7-6 lead. The defense, lead by strong plays from Anthony London, Andrew Kinsey and Kyle Oden stopped North Atlanta and forced them to punt. The errant snap to the NA kicker went through the end zone for a safety and Grady extended its lead to 9-6. After an exchange of punts, the North Atlanta defense scooped up a Grady fumble and ran it 42 yards with 8 seconds left in the half to take a 14-9 lead into the locker room.

North Atlanta came out in the 2nd half and mounted a long scoring drive to give them a 20-9 lead. Grady then drove to the North Atlanta 32, but an interception stopped the drive. The Grey Knight defense then stepped up again as David Edwards and Jesse Gordon forced a North Atlanta fumble that Bernard Holt scooped up and returned 37 yards for a Grady score to make the score 20-15.

North Atlanta opened the 4th quarter with another TD to make the score 26-15. Grady came back with a 70 yard drive, sparked by the running of Michael Payton stepping in for an injured Andre Pardue. Payton took it in from the 6 yard line for Grady's final TD to make the score 26-22. Both defenses then took over for the rest of the game, and it ended with Grady on the short end of the 26-22 score.

It was a great effort on a steamy afternoon, but the Grey Knights suffered their first loss of the season to drop to 4-1. Grady gets a week off before going to play at Blessed Trinity Friday night, October 18 at 7:30 PM. Make the short drive and support the battling Knights.

GRADY BEATS PIKE COUNTY 28-23 TO GO TO 4-0

Grady travelled to Pike County Friday night and came away with a thrilling come-from-behind victory 28-23. The Grey Knights are off to a 4-0 start in 2002 and still atop of the Region 5-AA standings.

After both teams missed field goals in the first quarter, Pike County came back with a 75 yard TD run to take a 7-0 lead. Grady came right back to begin the second quarter with a long drive, highlighted with a 35 yard pass from Alonzo Dennis to Kyle Oden. Dennis took it over from the 1 yard line to tie the score at 7-7. Pike County then scored twice with 2 long runs to take a 20-7 lead with only a few minutes left before the half. Grady came roaring back with a 25 yard TD pass from Dennis to Bobby McLain to close the score to 20-14 at the half.

The Grady defense held Pike County on their opening drive of the 2nd half. Kyle Oden then returned their punt 58 yards to the Pike County 18 yard line. 2 plays lated Alonzo Dennis hit a wide-open Andrew Moore in the end zone to tie the score at 20. Lukas Rentch made his 3rd of 4 extra points to give Grady a slim 21-20 lead.

Pike County started the 4th quarter with a drive that gave them a 1st and goal at the Grady 3 yard line. The Grady defense, lead by David Edwards, Anthony Edwards, Anthony London and Jason Richards held tight and Pick County settled for a field goal to take a 23-21 lead with about 8 minutes left in the game.

Andrew Moore took the Pike County kickoff 35 yards to the Grady 40. The Pike County defense held and Grady was forced to punt with a 4th and 12 - or were they.... Grady lined up quickly (actually with only 9 men on the field). Andrew Moore took the snap and hit Kyle Oden streaking down the sideline for a beautiful 62 yard TD, and Grady took a 28-23 lead with just under 7 minutes left in the game.

Pike County was not done. After an exchange of fumbles, Pike County drove to the Grady 37 yard line. But the Grady defense stepped up again as Anthony London picked off a Pike County pass and returned it 50 yards deep into Pike County territory. Grady then ran out the clock to preserve the 28-23 victory.

Come out to Grady Stadium Saturday, October 5th at 2:30 to see your undefeated Grey Knights take on North Atlanta. I guarantee it will be better than any college game on TV. You won't be disappointed !

GRADY GOES TO 3-0 WITH 28-6 WIN OVER CRIM

Grady stopped Crim Saturday afternoon with a strong, defensive effort. They stopped Crim on their first posession, led by 2 sacks from Anthony London. Crim punted to Grady and Andrew Moore returned it 34 yards to the Crim 23. After a penalty moved it back to the Crim 49, Alonzo Dennis immediately hit Anrew Moore for a 49 yard TD pass. The defense held Crim for the remainder of the 1st half and Grady led at halftime 6-0.

Andrew Moore started the 2nd half with a 40 yard kickoff return to the Crim 49. After a Grady fumble, Crim fumbled it right back and Grady took it in for a 13-0 lead. Alonzo Dennis passed to Bobby McLain for the 2-point conversion and Grady led 14-0. Crim did manage to close the gap to 14-6 by the end of the 3rd quarter.

Grady then took over in the 4th quarter and mounted a 10 play, 68 yard drive. Alonzo Dennis finished it off with a 3 yard TD and Grady lead 21-6. The Grady defense held Crim to 4 incomplete passes, and the offense took over again. An 8 play, 35 yard drive finished the 4th quarter, and ended with Andrew Moore recovering a fumble in the end zone for the final Grady score, and a commanding 28-6 victory.

Grady now sits atop the Region 5-AA standings, and travels to Pike County Friday night at 7:30 for another Grey Knight victory. Come see some exciting high school football.

Grady Starts 2-0 with 41-0 Victory over Cross Keys

After a close victory over Southside in the opening game last week (24-22), the Grey Knights had an easy victory at home over Cross Keys tonight.

Michael Payton started the victory with a 35 yard carry on the opening drive, and Demarcus Deadwyler followed with a 25 yard run to the Cross Keys 5 yard line. Andre Pardue took it in from there and Grady was off to a quick 6-0 lead.

Andrew Moore later returned a Cross Keys punt 33 yards to the CK 36 yard line, and Demarcus Deadwyler took it another 33 yards to the CK 3 yard line. Andre Pardue then took in in from there to make it 13-0 for the Grey Knights.

The Grady defense, lead by David Edwards and Anthony London, forced Cross Keys to punt again and Golden Roberson returned it 34 yards to the CC 16 yard line. 2 plays later Demarcus Deadwyler took it in from the 5 yard line to make the score 20-0 to end the 1st quarter.

Cross Keys was forced to punt to start the second quarter and Kyle Oden returned it 67 yards for a touchdown. Lukas Rentch added his 3rd extra point (5 for the game) to make it 27-0 in favor of Grady.

The Grady defense stuffed Cross Keys again, with the help of a 15 yard QB sack by Jesse Gordon and a blocked pass on 4th down by Jamari Norris. This set up a 27 yard pass from Alonzo Dennis to Andrew Moore to put the ball at the Cross Keys 8 yard line. Dennis took in in from the 3 yard line to make the halftime score 34-0.

It was more of the same in the second half as the tough Grady defense stopped Cross Keys again. Kyle Oden then returned the Cross Keys punt 35 yards to the CK 35 yard line. Alonzo Dennis then hit Andrew Moore for a 30 yard pass to the CK 5. 2 plays later, Andre Pardue took it in for his 3rd score of the night and Grady built a 41-0 lead.

Grady then played many of the reserves who also held Cross Keys scoreless and Grady ended up with a convincing 41-0 victory.

Grady takes next week off before facing arch-rival Crim on Saturday, September 21 at 2:30 PM at Grady Stadium. Come out and watch some exciting Grey Knight football.

Grady Footballers Make 2001 AJC All-City Life / South Metro Football Team

First Team:

Nicholas Oliver, senior, wide receiver, had 48 catches for 859 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Ronnie Millen, senior,linebacker, had team-leading 139 tackles and two intercepteion.

Andrew Moore, junior, punter, averaged 36.9 yards, as wide receiver cought 29 passes.

As a football Mom and Co-President of the Booster Club, I would like to thank Andrew Pardue for his great reporting of the football games this season. Great info, and great personal insights. Hope you'll do the same for next year.

Thanks to all the senior players for a thriller!! The Class of 2002 showed a lot of class last night and throughout the season -- you all have left some big shoes for the Class of 2003 to fill. What a wonderful example of leadership !!

GRADY LOSES IN OT TO LAMAR COUNTY 34-33

Grady lost a heartbreaker to Lamar County in overtime Friday night at Grady stadium, as the Grey Knights celebrated Senior Night. Lamar County, rated #1 in the region, came in heavy favorites but Grady had other ideas.

LC started the scoring in the 1st quarter with a 63-yard drive to take a 7-0 lead. They then marched 68 yards for another score to take a 14-0 lead, and it looked like a long night for Grady. But the Grey Knights took advantage of a muffed kickoff that put them on the LC 47 yd line. QB Alonzo Dennis lead the 47 yd TD drive, completing 14 yd passes to Ronnie Millen and Joseph Hirth to put Grady on the LC 17. Dennis then completed the drive with a 3 yd TD run to close the gap to 14-6 at halftime.

Lamar County looked like they were going to run away with the game when they scored on a 65 yd reverse/pass play to make the score 20-6 with less than 1 minute gone in the 2nd half. Another 50 yd TD drive made the score 27-6 with just 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, and the Grey Knights were in a deep hole.

But the seniors had other ideas on Senior Night. Senior Shmane Collier blazed 70 yards for Grady's longest scoring run of the season, and senior Nicholas Oliver caught the 2-point conversion to close the gap to 27-14. Grady started another drive near the end of the 3rd quarter from their own 48. QB Dennis hit Kyle Oden on a 26 yd pass, then hit seniors Joseph Hirth for 8 yds and Nicholas Oliver for 12 yds. Senior Shmane Collier ran for 15 yds, then took it in from 5 yds to close the score to 27-21 with 10 minutes left in the game.

Grady then recovered Lamar County's only fumble of the night on their own 38, and the offense went to work. Shmane Collier ran for 12 yds, and QB Alonzo Dennis hit Kyle Oden for 40 yds to the LC 5 yd line. Dennis then passed to Oden for the score, and the game was tied 27-27 with 4 minutes left.

Grady was not content with a tie, and the defense held LC on their next drive. LC punted to the Grady 12 yd line with 4 minutes left in the game. The Grey Knights started another drive, highlighted by a 38 yd run by Shmane Collier and a 15 yd pass reception by Nicholas Oliver. But with 30 seconds left in the game, the Grady drive was stopped on the LC 5 yd line by an interception, and the game went to overtime.

LC took the OT kickoff, but their drive stalled and they punted to the Grady 2 yd line. Grady's only fumble of the night resulted in a LC score to make it 34-27 with 2:21 left in the 1st OT period. LC monuted another drive in the 1st OT that ended at the Grady 3 yd line, but time ran out.

Grady took the 2nd OT period kickoff on their own 17 yd line. Then Grey Knight Senior Lightning hit again as Nicholas Oliver caught a 73 yd pass from Alonzo Dennis to make the score 34-33. Since LC had the penetration advantage by going to the Grady 3 yd line in the first OT period, a tie would have meant a loss for Grady. They made the right call by faking the extra point kick and going for 2 points. Unfortunately, a LC defender stepped in front of Kyle Oden at the last second to stop the pass attempt, and that is how the game ended.

It was the best game of the season for Grady, as they continued to fight back against the best team in the 5-AA division. The seniors were honored at halftime, and really shined in the game. These seniors played their last game in a Grey Knight uniform: Nicholas Oliver, Ronnie Millen, Keith Hernandez, Shmane Collier, Robert Owens, Roderick Green, Ferrell Scandrick, Ismail Ali, Joseph Hirth and Anthony Moon. We wish the best of luck to all of them as they carry the Grey Knight spirit with them into their future.

The Grey Knights finish the season with a 4-6 record, but a few breaks here and there could have easily made it a 7-3 playoff season. As the seniors move on, the Grey Knights have the nucleus for a great team next year, as the divisions are re-aligned again. There is more sports to come this year so come out and support the Grey Knights boys and girls teams throughout the rest of the year.

NORTHGATE STOPS GRADY 14-0

The Grady offense could not get on track Friday night at Grady stadium as Northgate came away with a 14-0 victory.

Grady stalled inside of Northgate territory twice in the first quarter. QB Golden Hill was injured late in the 1st quarter, and Alonzo Dennis filled in at QB, connecting with Kyle Oden on a 21 yd pass. But the 1st quarter ended in a scoreless tie.

Northgate got on the board early in the 2nd quarter to take a 7-0 lead. Dennis hit Nicholas Oliver on a 25 yd pass midway through the 2nd quarter, then followed with a 12 yard pass to Andrew Moore. However the Grady drive stalled again and Northgate lead at the half 7-0.

Northgate intercepted a Grady pass midway through the 3rd quarter and mounted a 20 scoring drive to take a 14-0 lead. That is how the third quarter ended.

Andrew Moore took ovcer at QB in the 4th quarter and connected on passes to Anthony Moon and Nicholas Oliver to get Grady to the Northgate 15 yd line. However a fumble ended Grady's last scoring opportunity and the game ended Northgate 14, Grady 0.

Although this ends Grady's playoff hopes, there is one final game next Friday at 5:15 at Grady Stadium against Lamar County. Come out and cheer on the Grey Knoghts as they try and close out the season on a winning note.

Manchester Machine Runs Over Grey Knights 28-7

Manchester rolled up over 300 yds on the ground to take a 28-7 victory over Grady at Grady stadium Friday night. Grady played tough the 1st quarter, as Nicholas Oliver stopped Manchester on the Grady 9 yard line on a 4th down attempt. The quarter ended in a scoreless tie.

Manchester mounted a 55 yd drive to take a 6-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. Kyle Oden returned the following kickoff 53 yards to the Manchester 12, but the Grady drive stalled at the Manchester 10. The Blue Devils then mounted a 90 yard drive on the ground to take a 12-0 lead. Grady drove to the Manchester 34 after the kickoff, highlighted by a 23 yd run by Golden Hill, but the half ended.

Manchester took the 2nd half kickoff and mounted an 83 yd TD drive to take a 20-0 lead. Grady came back, sparked by a 49 yd run by Golden Hill, but a turnover ended the drive, and the 3rd quarter.

QB Golden Hill lead Grday on a 4th quarter TD drive, completing a 25 yd pass to Andrew Moore, running 21 yards and then completing a 5 yd TD pass to Moore to cut the Manchester lead to 20-7. Manchester closed out the scoring with a 4th quarter drive and the score ended Manchester 28, Grady 7.

The loss leaves Grady 4-4, with a 3-3 region record. This is still good enough for 4th place. A win next Friday against Northgate (home at 5:15 PM) will put the Grey Knights in a position to compete for a playoff berth in their final game against Lamar County on Friday, November 16 at Grady. The Grey Knights need you for these last 2 critical games, so come out and give the team your support.

Knights JV Football Team Closes the Season with a Win

In the final game of the season, the Grady Gray Knights JV finished on a high note by blasting Carver 44-0. The Knights controlled the game from start to finish as they dominated on offense and defense. Demarcus Deadwyler was the star on offense as he rushed for over 100 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Knights defense put up a brick wall that Carver could not break through,holding them to negative total yardage. The victory ends the Knights season at a sucessful 3-3.

Thanks from the coaching staff for the support of the parents, friends and family. We are grateful for the encouragement that you provided for us as well as the players.

GRADY DEFENSE STUFFS GREENVILLE 37-0

The Grady defense held Greenville to only 3 first downs the entire game in route to a 37-0 victory in Greenville Friday night. The defense got things started as David Edwards blocked a pass that was intercepted by Roderick Green on the Greenville 35 midway through the first quarter. Keith Hernandez led the driver with a 20 yd run, followed by a 10 yd TD to make the score Grady 7-0. With 1:36 left in the 1st quarter, the defense again pressured Greenville to fumble a punt attempt and forced a safety to give Grady a 9-0 lead. Andre Pardue returned the ensuing kickoff 44 yds to the Greenville 18, but a fumble ended that drive and left the 1st quarter score at 9-0

Keith Hernandez scored again in the 2nd quarter on a 5 yd TD run to cap a 67 yd Grady drive, highlighted by QB Golden Hill passing to Andrew Moore for 22 yds and Andre Pardue for 18 yds. The half ended with Grady ahead 16-0.

The defense again stuffed a Greenville punt attempt on their 9 yd line with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, and QB Golden Hill ran it in from there on the next play to give Grady a 23-0 lead. One more time, the defense rose to the occasion as Nicholas Oliver scooped up a Greenville fumble and ran 46 yds for another Grady score. Sizwe Geabashe, who was perfect on extra points all night, made the score Grady 30, Greenville 0.

Grady closed out the scoring in the 4th quarter on a 1 yd run by Ronnie Millen. This 50 yd drive was highlighted by a 23 yd run by Leonard Shivers and a 18 yd pass from Golden Hill to Joseph Hirth. The defense shut down Greenville for the rest of the game as Grady spoiled Greenville's homecoming 37-0.

It was a great effort by the entire team, but the defense must get the credit for this Grady victory. They will rise to the occasion again Friday night in an 8:00 battle against Manchester at Grady stadium. This is a must-win to keep the Grady playoff hopes alive so come out on November 2 and MAKE SOME NOISE!

The Booster Club will provide a "Spirit Bus" for the Greenville game on Fri., October 26. The bus will leave the student parking lot at approx. 6PM for the 8PM game. It will return between 11:30 PM and 12:00 AM. There is a $5.00 transportation charge for the trip, plus $6.00 game admission to be paid at the gate. All students must present a completed, signed, parental permission form (available from Ms. Ross) before they board the bus. Seats are sold on a first come , first served basis in the main office. Payment must be received by 3:30 on Friday, October 26. Two adult chaperones are also needed for the trip. Get on board the spirit bus !!

GRADY GRABS HOMECOMING VICTORY OVER CARVER 33-6

After a scoreless 1st quarter, Grady jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the 2nd quarter on a 3 yard TD run by Leonard Shivers. That was followed with a 40 yard TD pass from Golden Hill to Shmane Collier to make it 14-0 Grady with 1:45 left in the half. Carver scored on a long pass play with 6 seconds left in the half and Grady held a 14-6 after 2 quarters.

The Grady offense came to life in the second half to take control of the game. Shmane Collier scored again on a 13 yard TD run to make the score 21-6 for Grady. Ronnie Millen and Andre Pardue both intercepted passes to help keep the Carver offense in check for the entire 3rd quarter.

Joseph Hirth kept the defensive pressure going for Grady in the 4th quarter with a blocked punt. This was followed with a 32 yard TD run, again by Leonard Shivers, with 7 minutes to play to extend the Grady lead to 27-6. Keith Hernandez closed the scoring for Grady with a 8 yard TD run to make the final 33-6 for Grady.

This was a great team effort that brought the Grey Knights record to 3-3. They travel to Greenville next Friday for an 8:00 PM kickoff. Make the short drive there and support your team!

On Saturday,October 13th, the Grady Grey Knights JV Football Team was defeated by Therell High 21-20 in a tight contest.

The Knights scored first on a 50 yard run by wide receiver Wesley Taylor. The Panthers then got on the board with a touchdown to tie the game up 6-6. The Knights scored on another run by Taylor and added one more touchdown to take a halftime lead by the score of 20-6. The Knights were not as successful in the second half as they committed several turnovers which the Panthers used to their advantage.

With the score 20-14 and time winding down in the game, the Knights were forced to punt, and on the punt, the Panthers returned the punt 48 yards for the score. They added an extra point and took the lead for good.

the calloway game was a weeper, but we still love our boys. they played a really decent game and kept showing heart. somehow, fan attendance was extremely low. have never seen a grady game of any type w/so few supporters. andre, great job of reporting games. homecoming will be the bomb!! between the players, students, ptsa and sga--all of spirit week should be quite memorable. GRADY LOOSES A HEARTBREAKER TO CALLAWAY 30-27

Grady lost a back and forth battle when Callaway scored on a 46 yard TD pass with 33 seconds left in the game. It was a see saw battle all afternoon.

Grady held a 2-0 lead at the end of a defensive 1st quarter. Callaway scored on a 52 yard TD run and a 33 yard field goal to take a 10-2 lead with about 6 minutes left in the half. The Grey Knights came charging back when Golden Hill hit Nicholas Oliver with a 59 yard TD pass to close the gap to 10-8 with 4 minutes left in the half. Hill hit Oliver again with a 26 yard TD pass with just 12 seconds left in the first half and Grady went into the locker room with a 14-10 lead. This drive was highlighted by a 36 yard run by Ronnie Millen.

The only scoring in the 3rd quarter was an 11 yard TD run by Callaway to take a 17-14 lead. Grady ended the third quarter on the Callaway 13 yard line after barely missing on a 4th down attempt.

Alonzo Dennis came in to relieve an injured Golden Hill at QB for Grady and connected with Nicholas Oliver on a 10 yard TD pass and Grady took a 20-17 lead with just over 7 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately, Callaway returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a TD and regained the lead 23-20.

Grady came bouncing back when Kyle Oden caught a 16 yard pass on a fake 4th down punt to keep the subsequent Grady drive alive with less than 4 minutes left. Leonard Shivers then ran 33 yards for a TD and Grady took a 27-23 lead with just 2 minutes left in the game. Callaway then scored their final TD to regain the lead 30-27.

However, Grady had little time left and could not score again before the clock ran out. It was an outstanding effort by the Grey Knights who never gave up and kept coming back every time they were down. A little more time on the clock would have surely meant a Grady victory.

Grady will bounce back next Friday for homecoming against Carver at 5:15. Come out and see some exciting football !!!

GRADY TRIMMED BY CRIM 21-14

Crim jumped to an early 14-0 lead, returning the opening kickoff 80 yards for a score, and scoring again on a 55 yard run on their first posession from scrimage. Grady came back late in the 1st quarter, but was stopped on the Crim 1/2 yard line. The teams played even the rest of the half, with Crim going into the locker room with a 14-0 lead.

Grady came out strong in the 3rd quarter, with Shmane Collier intercepting a Crim pass and returning it to the Crim 6 yard line. Golden Hill scored on a 1 yard run, to cut the Crim lead to 14-6, but the extra point was blocked.

Crim was stopped on their next drive, and Grady took over on their own 15 yard line. They went on an 85 yard scoring drive, highlighted by a 22 yard run by Shmane Collier, and capped by a 55 yard TD reception by Nicholas Oliver. Hill passed to Collier for the 2-point conversion, tying the game at 14-14 to end the 3rd quarter.

After two punt exchanges, Crim started on the Grady 6 yard line, and mounted a 94 yard scoring drive on the ground, ending in a 30 yard TD run to take a 21-14 lead. The Grey Knights could not get a first down after that, and Crim ran out the clock.

A GREAT effort by the Grey Knights, but they came up short 21-14. Grady takes next week off before travelling to LaGrange to play Callaway.
