Our country has a "Checks and balance system" in place so that one branch of the government is not more powerful than another. Do we have that is our denomination?

Answers

In my humble opinion, our current discipline contains more checks and few balances. I have some old disciplines from many years past and it seems that the discipline has evolved (Oh My, My, that is a bad word) by adding more "Thou shall not (s)" than "Thou shall . . .". For that reason, I find the discipline an instrument that is not unlike trying to be saved by keeping the Law. The Law instructs us, but cannot give us life, that is change our hearts. I think that more emphasis should be placed on the love of God and our fellow human beings.
