At my home church in Billings, Montana. There is a church mother who is 86 years old. I love her dearly, for her love for God is self-evident. When she gives her testimony, it is inspiring for she has so much to teach all of us. Tell us about the faithful "elders" in your church?

One important thing I learned from the elders in my church was be steadfast and unmoveable thru good times, storms,and any crisis lean on God and he will see you thru. They did not take down and run. Live Right was another example. Please share with me about your mothers board and/or any info you receive that will help me to fulfill the task my pastor has given me to compile info about the Mothers Board. We haven't had a Mothers Board for a long time since most of our oldest members are gone. Thank you very much and hope to visit you some time. Yours in Christ, J.McRae

Josephine it is so good to hear from you! The wonderful woman I referred to in my initial post passed away this year. Her name was mother freeman she was 86 years old. I doubt I would be A.M.E if it were not for her. For I had to travel 300 miles round trip to get to an A.M.E church and I called the church and she answered. She had such an incredible love for God and our denomination that I knew I wanted to be a part of the A.M.E church because of her. Our church mothers and fathers are also a beacon of light that draws us to the church. I am still new to the A.M.E church and I am not familiar with the Mother board. Perhaps someone else can answer that question.

In the A.M.E. Church, I do not believe there is or ever has been any such auxiliary as a "Mothers Board". These are from the tradition of other denominations such as the Baptist Church, the Church of God in Christ, and some of the other Pentecostal churches.

In the A.M.E. Church we have wonderful mothers who serve on the Stewardess Board, The Senior Misssionary Society (WMS) and the Board of Deaconesses. The latter of which must be concerated by the Presiding Bishop (usually at the Annual Conference).
