Boneless chickens (how to raise?)greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
Can anybody tell me how to raise boneless chicken? It seems to be the only kind my wife likes to eat.
-- Russell Hays (rhays@sstelco.com), July 24, 2001
O.K. your joking right ?
-- Patty {NY State} (fodfarms@slic.com), July 24, 2001.
I've never had any luck raising boneless chickens. Can't get them to mate - the hen just lays there......
-- Cheryl in KS (cherylmccoy@rocketmail.com), July 24, 2001.
Sure, blame it on the hen! :-P
-- Joy F [in So. Wisconsin] (CatFlunky@excite.com), July 24, 2001.
In all honesty, if you're asking that question, you may want to consider moving back to the city--soon.

Of all the silly notions ... of course you can't raise boneless chickens ... never any fertile eggs! How do you expect the rooster to mate with no bone ... er ...????SHEESH!
P.S. See ... it isn't ALWAYS the hen's fault! {;0)
-- Phil in KS (pemccoy@yahoo.com), July 25, 2001.
LOL. that is the best ? I have seen in a while. This thread needs some humor ). You made me smile

Think I would not sign my name to that one were it me asking such a thing :( tang
-- tang (tang@mtaonline.net), July 25, 2001.
Actually there exists a testing lab ran by a large poultry producer that is basically growing chicken meat without a living chicken. It's growing in troughs almost like a culture grows on vinegar. They're saying about 2-3 years until it's in consumer food.

Carefully roll them into a bucket, then you can do as you wish with them - raise, lower, whatever. You certainly got a few rises here.Actually, some of the best boneless chicken is made by boiling the bones left behind when the chicken is filleted to make another kind of boneless chicken, and making chicken soup.

Funny, funny. but the funniest thing in this string is the exposure of those with no funny bone at all.

One of my favorite Farside cartoons was the Boneless Chicken Farm. The chickens were all laying around in motionless heaps. Every now and then I think about that and laugh!and speaking of Farside cartoons, another favorite was The Tidy-Bowl Family. Mom, Dad and kids are all sitting on livingroom furniture that is floating in a toilet bowl. Dad has his nose in a newspaper and says, "Yep, looks like there's going to be another full moon tonight"!

Russell you done good we need a laf once in awhile.Bob se.ks.
-- Bobco (bobco@hit.net), July 25, 2001.
Leslie: Speaking of Farside - here's one of my favorites - a skinny little photographer in safari attire taking photos of a herd of elephants and the elephants are all telling one particular elephant "Go on George, kill him, crush the little cretin!" The title was Elephant Peer Pressure. Too funny!!! Cynthia
-- Cynthia (farmsteader@gvtel.com), July 26, 2001.
Ah, Gary Larson and The Farside! My fave: Campers snoozing away in sleeping bags. Bears in the bushes, looking at them . . . "Sandwiches!" LOL!

Have any of you ever seen the cartoon "Cow and chicken"? It has a boneless chicken in the cartoon. It is really funny--well to me anyway! The chicken kind of just slides around. Obviously someone is raising them successfully, there are lots of them available at the supermaket :) LOL. Sharon
-- Sharon (spangenberg@hovac.com), July 28, 2001.
Oh, how I have chuckled over this one! And thank you for reminding me of the Farside cartoons. They are so funny! You know, we all need to laugh more!

Good one Russell! Leslie, Cythia, & Joy, the Farside boneless chicken ranch immediately came to my mind when first reading Russell's "problem". I'm not sure where you would buy a live boneless chicken, Russell, but do realize they are alot of work. Have to help them eat, drink, move them from time to time in and out of the chicken coop, . . . . . .!!!!!! Now, if anyone can please help me find a cow or a goat that gives chocolate milk I would really appreciate it. All the big milk producers have them but must never sell them, cause I'm still looking!

My children love "Boneless Chicken"!they like Boneless Chicken, hard boiled, fried, scrambled, up, over, in omelettes, cakes, cookies and used to batter up fried boned chicken!
They can eat Boneless chicken for lunch and dinner as well as for breakfast or even the Hard boiled boneless chicken for snacks!
-- westbrook (westbrook_farms@yahoo.com), July 29, 2001.
Boneless chicken... you take a regular chicken and do the underwear trick, just reach up the vent & give a yank & all the bones will come out, right? I believe the cackle comes out with the skeleton (buc- AW!!) I really appreciate your question Russell. My husband and I had the best and longest laugh we've had in a long time over this question tonight.
