This game, against FC Twente, was the weakest game I ever saw Trabelsi play. My God, he did everything wrong. The penalty for Twente was his fault and every all he kicked in the second half was a disaster. He cased numerous dangerous moments by erratic defending. What an amazing off-day.

Yes Trabelsi is a good player, but NOT the best player with the tunisian national soccer team. Tunisia's best player is Slim Ben Achour, 20 years old and already playing for the parisian giant PSG , also Ali Zitouni is one of the best african players also young (21) and already cappeble of scoring in games. I'll hope that in the future more young players come to the national team and not shit players like Selime and Gabsi.

Luis Figo praised the Tunisian team and especially Trabelsi after Portugal's friendly game with Tunisia. "They have very good players and Hatem Trabelsi is outstanding," Figo said. I completely agree. I mean I only had to watch Trabelsi for a couple of games last season and I said that he must be one of the best right wingers in the world. That game was also when Ajax were still struggling and not looking like they'll have any chance of winning the eredivisie. So I can imagine how much better he is right now after Koeman transformed the whole team. Trabelsi is skillful, fast, spirited, and a great play-maker that attacks as well as he defends. I hope he only gets better and better and keeps up the good work. Go Trabelsi.

Saturday, Tunisia played away against POrtugal. The Tunisian team did very well. The score was 1 - 1. Hatem Trabelsi was as usual one of the best player on the field. Figo thinks that he is a great player. We Tunisian are very proud to have Hatem in Ajax that is giving him a lot. He is improving for week to week Thanks Ajax! Good luck for the Champion's league. i have watched both games aganist inter and yesterday's game aganist NAC. During the inter game, u performed as never seen before, u were even very close of scoring, but toldo saved it. However, u seemed very tired yesterday during the game aganist NAC, the two goals they scored were ur mistakes... Please don't take that guy serious. Just ignore him. Hatem Trabelsi is my hero. He came to Amsterdam very anonymous and with no pair of shoes to play. He could choose between several clubs where he could have earned much more money, but he choose for football. He choose Ajax! These kind of players are very rare.

I had the pleasure of meeting Hatem in Sfax when he used to play for the local club there. The fans adored him. He was a great mecca of Tunisian football. The crowd used to sing a great chant for him, This is how it went................Trabelsi, Trabelsi is the answer cause, he does not have cancer, he has speed, but doesnt smoke weed,he will beat you one on one,and kick you on your bum. Of course I wouldn't blame Hatem Trabelsi if it appeared that he had a brother who was in the Al-Qaeda network. I was just curious about the possibility of Hatem knowing an Al-Qaeda member. It really wasn't my intention to suggest or imply that the Ajax player also had an association with Al-Qaeda. I apologise to anyone who interpreted my reaction this way. By the way: yesterday I read that the former professional footballer who was planning an assault on a Parisian embassy building, wasn't Sami, but Nizar Trabelsi. Trabelsi appears to be a very common Tunisian name.

I want to thank Hatem (Ellouze, not Trabelsi) for his stylish, grown-up reaction to Frank's post. First answering the question politely, then changing the subject to what it's all about on this forum: football, and Ajax.

I was annoyed too by Frank's post, albeit slightly. What I hated about it was not explicit (therefore I don't think his post should have been removed), but implicit.

1) Even Sami Trabelsi is innocent as long as he's not convicted. That's the civilized legal system we're so proud of (in both Holland and the U.S.), aren't we? So let's keep it in mind then. The only thing I read was that Sami Trabelsi was arrested. Whether he was an Al-Qaeeda member and if so, how much he knew about the terrorist activities, let alone to what extent he participated - it's all yet to be proved. Until then, he's an innocent man.

2) If he turns out to be an Al-Qaeeda member, either fully aware of the terrorist actvities or actively participating in them: Hatem Trabelsi is not related to him. And even if he was: he's an individual. I mean: Frank de Boer had too much nandrolon in his blood. Does that necessarily mean he deliberatedly used the stuff. And if he did, does that make Ronald de Boer more suspicious than, say, Marc Overmars?

Anyway - I wish I was as cool as Hatem when it came to this...

Let's talk about footy again. In responmse to Hatem's question: now that Ronald Koeman has been Ajax' head coach for a while, it's interesting to take a closer look at his preferences. Which players should be happy that he's here, and which ones should be not so happy?

Unfortunately, I think Hatem Trabelsi is in the latter group. For a long time, he was the best of the four newcomers and in a way *the* good news story of the season. His defending was a bit risky sometimes, but his runs along the right flank were impressive. But one thing has become clear by now: Koeman is very fond of Johnny Heitinga. He keeps playing him at right-back, also because there's no reason in the world to change the central defense (Chivu/Bergdĝlmo) right now. I think Hatem is the second man for the right back and right midfield positions right now; not the first.

Some other players who have reason to worry: Maxwell (Co played him regularly, but De Cler is obviously Koeman's man at left back), Yakubu and Galásek (Koeman got Van Halst back into the squad and is impressed by J.O.B.). Also, Daniël Cruz can start all over again. He was close to breaking though as a right back or right midfielder. Right now, Johnny Heitinga, Jan van Halst, Hatem Trabelsi and maybe even Ferdi Vierklau are ahead of him in the hierarchy. Which is sad for Daniël, who is one of our secret gems, I can assure you.

The players who should be very happy with Koeman include: Jan van Halst (obviously...), Johnny Heitinga, John O'Brien (who would have lost his spot to Galásek under Co's reign; under Koeman I wouldn't be surprised if Galásek left soon), Zlatan (Koeman is more patient with him than he is with Machlas; I *think* he regards Zlatan as his future man).

Also, the tide has turned for Knopper and Van der Gun, our true 'number ten shadow strikers'. Co didn't play with a shadow striker; Koeman does. Against Sporting Farense, he used Van der Vaart as a 'number ten', which he will probably continue to do (with Van Halst and J.O.B. in midfield), but Van der Gun and Knopper will get plenty of time to play (in default of Van der Vaart and/or as substitutes).

I think this is what Koeman (at this moment anyway) regards as "his" team: Grim; Heitinga, Chivu, Bergdĝlmo, De Cler; Van Halst, Van der Vaart, O'Brien; Van der Meyde, Zlatan, Wamberto.

First Happynew year to all AJAX's fans! I'm writing this commnet to let you know about Hatem Trabelsi appearances with Tunisian national team! HATEM was excellent during the two games played in the last days. He gave to his teammate a lot of goals, two penalties..... In our newspapers they call him the EXTRA-TERRESTRE. A lot of people say that thanks to AJAX and to the concurrence with Heintiga, Hatem became stronger physically and technically!

Hatem was my personal 'Man Of The Match' against NEC, although Van der Meyde was voted for by the jury. I thought he was absolutely marvellous: very determined, no chance for his opponent, good passing after having won the ball. And his runs... amazing. This guy never seems to run out of fuel. He created himself two open scoring chances by simply running straight through the defense. Unfortunately, his shooting attempts were then shit-poor, but that's a defender's thing, I suppose. Very, very good game.

Yup! Ajax looked for an entire season for two new backs. Everyone was complaining because Ajax didn't buy one (and bought two strikers instead!). Ajax always said that they didn't want to buy *just* a back and that it was a tough job to find a good one.

Well, Ajax' patience was worth it in the end! They now got two great backs, Trabelsi and Maxwell. Great defenders with enormous lungs who can easily attack, but will be back on time if the attack doesn't provide a goal. Excellent players for the Ajax system!

What a difference a football season makes.Last season saw Vierklau, van der Meijde, Cruz, Sier, Bergdolmo, Kanu,and O'Brien to name "only " seven right backs who were used. I think a glance in the Amsterdam phone book could find a few more. To go from that revolving door to Hatem Trabelsi is a pleasure. His ability to separate defenders from their athletic supporters, witness what he did on Zlatan's goal in the F-word match, is a treat for the AJAX faithful. If he can keep his temperament at an even keel, he could have fans recalling the glory days of Sonny Silooy.

I have not seen any report on Trabelsi's suspension, after his double- yellow sending off at Feyenoord. He was suspended against FC Twente, that's for sure. I'm pretty sure this was the only game he'll miss. The penalty for a double-yellow card is usually only one game... So we'll see him again against AZ, on Sunday.

Still haven't heard about Trabelsi being suspended. Normally, he would get a one game suspension (usual in case of a 'double yellow'). But there's still a chance that the KNVB commission will overrule referee Temmink.

Hatem's first foul could have been an red card instantly, but TV footage showed that he actually played the ball and hardly hit the man in the event of the second yellow card. It looked pretty bad, especially because of Smolarek's beautiful dive, but that wasn't a yellow card.

I *think* that the KNVB folks are such mediocre thinkers that they'll suspend him for one game anyway (basically because the first yellow card was given for such a harsh foul; they won't say that, but it'll be their concealed motivation). That would be irrational. The first yellow card is irrelevant when it comes to deciding whether the second yellow card should or should not have been given.

Mark my words: the second yellow card *should* be overruled, but it won't happen. He will be suspended for one game - and miss FC Twente.

Not much we can say about Trabelsi yet, but the story of his arrival in De Lutte, where he joined the Ajax training camp, is brilliant. the guy had nothing with him. Not even a basic suitcase with some personal stuff. He had to borrow footy boots from some other player.

After he was signed, he went back to Tunisia to pick up his stuff and arrange some other things, such as saying goodbye to the folks at his previous club... Yeah - that's how simple football life can still be - apparently. What a beautiful romantic way to join a new club.
