2nd quarter LINES SOUTHgreenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread |
Has anyone gotten their copy of LINES SOUTH? I see that copies were mailed out but I still haven't received one in the mail. Just wondering and watching the mail,

It was a misunderstanding between the PO and our mailer. It is much too detailed to try and explain here.Neverless,THAT problem has been resolved.I just hope there are not anymore, altho I was assured there would be no more. For the details, call me.

The Lines South was great this Quarter, I agree. But I just wonder how long it'll take to get the third quarter. I read what Gary posted about steps being taken to fix this. He didn't say how though. I think the members of Society would like to know how this is to be fixed, I know I would. Maybe it could be posted on the Web-Site. I think that'll be nice.

I received my copy of Lines South, yesterday July 31, 2001, in Ocala, Florida. I was just about to give up hope, but the copy was well worth the waite. Allen Wiener

Yes, Mr. Bass, your response today echos the one that I entered earlier. I think there are a few things that we should all remember: 1-) we have a very good society here, 2-) we have some wonderful V_O_L_U_N_T_E_E_R_S!!!!!, and then 3-) this is a hobby for gosh sakes. We need to all just chill out a little (this is a hobby publication, not a major investment loss on the stock exchange)and remember that it's a hobby, not a job that many of us face stress, deadlines, etc. on each day that we hopefully walk away from and enjoy our families and our HOBBIES. Let's stop complaining and acting like the golfer who gets mad because he made a poor swing of the club and then threw his club in the trees out of frustration. I suppose to some degree I should apologize for venting this in our forum, but I am sick and tired of hearing some of us complain; and if I've offended anyone by what I have just said, then so be it!! Again, we have a great society and one heck of a great group of volunteers. Let's remember that and also remember, "don't sweat the small stuff."Raymond Smith

Arrived Richmond on 25 July. As always a great publication. May we all get over the "I WANT IT NOW" syndrone that we face on a daily basis.

Five important words are the pivot about which your Lines South subscription hinges its arrival in a timely fashion:THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE
Gentlemen, we've had this issue published for quite some time, but issues (involving higher authorities beyond our control) slowed down the actual shipment date. We're sorry.

It is now Thursday July 26th, 2001 and hot as blazes in New York. I would love nothing else but to receive my "LINES SOUTH" and sit by the tracks and read this excellant publication but I can't. No "Lines South" yet.

As of today, Sunday July 22, 2001, I still have not received my copy. I understand that this is a volunteer organization and that the members donate time to get these things done but I cannot help but feel that sometimes we bite off more than we can chew. The Lines South magazines, while always interesting, are always late. There have been many times in the past that they were so late I was surprised when they did arrive. I had thought I had been dropped from membership or forgot to pay my dues. Oh well, life marches on. Tom

Got mine on the 18th and as always, the superb quality of this publication makes me feel very fortunate to not only subscribe to it but to be a member of such a wonderful and professional hobby group. Hat's off to all of the wonderful contributors and to all of the personal dedication of so many that make not only LINES SOUTH possible but our Society as well. Let's not EVER allow our Society lose it's focus and it's sharing spirit as far too many others have done.Raymond Smith

Thanks Larry. I'll keep you posted. BTW I just bought a copy of ATLANTIC COAST LINE PASSENGER SERVICE THE POSTWAR YEARS. It's a great book! A lot of great photos. Maybe someone could do a book on Seaboard's passenger service. The names Shrady and Griffin come to mind.

Richard, As Buck Dean has posted on the main page, this mailing was regrettably very late but the issues did go in the mail on July 13. If the P. O. delivers on the schedule that it usually follows, that means most members should be getting their issues any day. Keep us posted as to when you get yours, and thanks for your patience.
