Boar billy goat attacked doe never kidded

I have this nice 7 month old doe never kidded the boar 7 monthes also was in with her he knocked her down with his head and after she was down kept hitting her real hard as if he was very angery.He never tried to bred her at all,She couldn't get up for a while.Pastor Hughes

Then don't put him in with young does. 7 months is pretty much on the border line of not old enough to breed a doe anyway. Put him in with some older does which will teach him some manners! You do not want to let him get away with behavior like this, as when you have does kidding out at pasture, he will be aggressive with them also. This is the number one reason we didn't stay in Boers was because of the horned attitude that most bucks get, disbudded they have a totally different mentality. Vicki

Well is the doe allright now? Mean, mean billy goat! We finially got all the horns off all of ours. Much better attitudes now. I have been "teaching" mine to be nice, and I'm suprised to say it is working.

We never let the does and bucks together except for supervised breeding. Many times it takes two people: one to hold the doe and the other to hold the buck. In the wild, a buck will be hard on a doe to make sure she is up to challenge of passing on his genetics. You know, survival of the fittest. But our domestic goats are not wild and need human intervention for good breedings. Don't tolerate unacceptable behavior.
