Hey thanks!!!

I'm spending the last day prior to leaving doing a bazillion things! But I'm pretty psyched!

Last night we took Siegfried and Roy to camp. It was crazy, as I rode in the back of the truck with them. We took the back roads so we could go slow (35-45 mph! yeah right...) and it was starting to rain and was blowing like H-E-double-toothpicks...but they seemed to like their new place when we got there...20 acres with lots of browse, a pond, nice horses, etc. Only thing that was different were two dogs which I hope they can befriend....at least they're separated by hotwire!

Today is dentist appointment, pick up my new Rx sunglasses (a mere $431....no insurance!) clean the henhouse, set up hoses for watering the gardens, clean up the garage enough to set up the animal food "canteen," and meet with the neighbors and Mom to review some stuff. And some other things that I can't remember. Oh, did I mention pack??? !! Maybe I should do that, ya think???....Although I have a pretty comprehensive list going, I'm still wondering how it will all fit in my duffle!

We leave about 4 a.m. tomorrow to try to beat any Puget Sound traffic jams heading south (just horrendous traffic out here.) Our first night we will be camping in S. Oregon, maybe around Ashland. (Hi, JOJ. If you are reading this, got any "instant camping spots" ideas? Just a place to sleep not too far off I-5?) Second night, we will be in Napa Valley visiting Mr. S.'s aunt for a couple of days. Then on to E. Nevada and down to AZ. (Jorja, sorry...we're not going by S. Utah...maybe we'll honk on the way back!) We will spend a couple of days with friends in Page. Then on to Grand Canyon Village to play tourist for a couple of days and rendezvous with the other couple going with us on the raft trip. Then a hike down the Bright Angel Trail to Phantom Ranch. We'll spend one night down there and then on to the rafts. A few days of that, and then we drive to Las Vegas...spend a night there, and then drive home...not sure what route. Should be back sometime around Aug. 6 or 7, unless we find something else to visit! But we don't want to impose on our neighbor's caretaking too much, either!

Isn't this WAYYYY more than you ever wanted to know? But can you tell I'm excited!!!

I'll miss you all and will be thinking about you. Seriously. So behave and keep the forum going so I'll know where to find you all again when I return.

Enjoy all that sun and fun, sheepish. Tell us all about it when you return. Oh, and if you miss us on the way, remember that local libraries rarely charge you to use their internet access and you can check e-mail and keep in touch w/family members easily that way when you don't know where you'll spend the night.
