The mini-series of Mists of Avalon is on TNT tonight 7pm central/8pm eastern, repeats two hours later. Second part is tomorrow night at the same times.

If anyone is interested in seeing it and has cable. Can't remember if we discussed this or not on this board.

Cable TV? What's cable? Tee-hee, we are lucky if we get 3 good stations to come in at the same time without using the rotor to turn the antenna up on the roof!!! Yes, shades of "Mayberry", we have a honking big antenna and a rotor box to turn it to pick up stations.

I consider myself to be very fortunate to pick up two diiferent PBS stations (but I have to turn the antenna to pick each up!) out here in the boonsticks, good thing we are at a fairly high elevation here.

I know, we could have one of those "mini-dish" jobbies, but I refuse to pay money every month to receive something that should be free, isn't that what all those nasty commercials PAY FOR???

Cable? We still have copper phone lines, cable is a long way off, I would give one of my eye teeth for a cable modem computer connection though, my dear geek brother laughs and laughs at our phone connection when he has to use it down here to fix my flubs on the computer!!! It is soooooo sloooooooow!!!

The book was great, but we only pick up cbs and nbc on the free airways-PBS and fox if the weather and the winds will it, and upstairs only. Why pay for the distractions?! But seriously, I just watched the first three episodes of The Sopranos on videotape from the rental store. Violent, yes, but I really liked it. Back tomorrow for 4-6. HBO sure put out a good show.

I've watched ER for too many years because all I see is Nurse Hathaway with a fake British accent. :-)

Truthfully, I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. The fellow they cast for Uther wasn't at all what I was expecting but after a few scenes I decided that he was perfect for the role. And that Lancelot sure is a hottie, you really can't blame Gwenivere for falling for him, especially under the circumstances how they first met, but overall I still think that she's a twit.

I wonder if they're going to do the part with Kevin the Merlin in part 2. That part of the book really pi**ed me off.

I am really enjoying it. I wonder though if any of the ancients really had control over the elements like that? Or anyone today for that matter? I liked the music alot. I recognized some of it from my Loreena McKennit CD.

Denise, my opinion is that the ancients couldn't control the elements such that they could just stare at a pile of kindling and have it burst into flames. However, I do believe that there were certain people within the tribe who were trained to be much more in tune with the elements, and so to the common folk it may have appeared that they were controlling them. Take dowsing for example. If you could sense where the water was and told someone to dig there, it might look like you were controlling the water and making it appear there.

That's just my opinion though. I haven't been able to convince Mr Peabody and Sherman to loan me the Way-Back Machine so I can check it out for myself. :-)

Did they change the ending for the movie? It's been a few years since I've read the book but I don't remember it ending like that?

It wasn't as bad as what I was afraid it was going to be. Of course, when you distill an 800+ page book into a 3 hour movie quite a bit gets lost. The book was much more complex. I remember after I finished reading the book I couldn't decide if I liked Morgaine or hated her. There was a big chunk of the book where she was pretty cold hearted. I felt like she just used Accolon to regain her powers and then tossed him aside. The movie really glossed over that part and made Morgaine a sympathetic character throughout.
