I have a 4 qt. pressure cooker I thought it was going to be a great help with cooking but everything seems to have this strange pressure cooked flavor I have tried roasts stews and veggies and don't like the taste. DH doesnt seem to notice and was very impressed with the tenderness of the venison roasts. Has anyone else noticed this flavor thing and do you have good recipes I can use. I am a teacher and like to have easy and simple recipes in the winter. Any help or comments??? Thanks Ronda

I use a pressure cooker quite often and have found that I need three times the spice over regular cooking, I guess it is due to the pressure going through the food taking the spices with it.

Rhonda, I use a pressure cooker for certain things. For other things, I like my crockpot. For meats, it is good to brown the meat before adding water to put under pressure. Usually, though, i do meats in the crockpot instead. I start it in the morning, and cook it all day. By evening, the meat is tender as can be, and very flavorful. Another thing I have found, is that spices are best added after cooking, shortly before serving. High heat destroys spice flavor. Hope you have success!
