Am travelling to bangkok on 29th June..does anyone know where i can buy Nikon Lenses and accessoroies there..

Hi, For me as a German it doesn't make sence to buy in Bangkok. Too expensive there. As far as I know, camera equipment is not as expensive in the USA as it is in Germany. I used to buy things in NY some years ago, just for saving money. My last longer stay in Bangkok is some time ago (3 years or so). During that time it doesn't make sence for me. It may had changed but I don't believe that. Not knowing how long your stay in Bangkok will be, you may have the chance / time to visit Malaysia. There is no Gouverment tax for photographing equipment in Malaysia. Usually Nikkor lenses are up to 30 % cheaper as they are in Germany. But take care of the dealer. Often stolen equipment is sold in Asia. Have a look to the serial numbers and look into the Stolen Equipment Registries if possible. Kuala Lumpur is a very good place to buy lenses etc.. I assume that you live in the USA. My experience is that buying Nikon equipment is generally cheapest in the US through mail order from places like B&H. It may seem logical that Nikons may be cheaper in Thailand because of our favorable exchange rate. However, the Thais import their Nikon goods from Japan where they also face a poor exchange rate. Thus, I have found that Nikons tend to be more expensive there. The only time where I have found Nikons for cheaper was in Toyko when the exchange rate was 140 yen to 1 USD.

Hi, Kuala Lumpur photo shops are NOT known to be selling stolen equipment. In fact you can hardly find any used equipment in most stores, and if you do, it probably has a label which reads "For Display, Not For Sale". Some dealers are proud to show their vintage cameras, some of which are rare.

All equipment are imported by Nikon Malaysia, the official importer of Nikon equipment in Malaysia. There are no known grey imports. Almost every main Nikon items can be found here, except for very espensive supertelephoto lenses which has to be ordered. No shop would want to tie up their inventory with these expensive equipment.
