Recently I rented an office in town for my real estate brokerage business. Being a one man operation it was ordinary to do business from home. But wanting to expand a little it became a little difficult to operate at home. Until just recently we had baby chicks under the table where the computer is. I think some of them may have e-mail addresses or even web sites. It is not too unusual to be on the front pourch talking on a cordless phone, and have margaret the goose join in the conversation. A mortgage broker in L.A. or New York City might have a little difficulty understanding. So I got a small place in town for my expansion.

Now anything new in a small town is a big deal, and the local paper wrote it up, front page; above the fold. Take a look:

My picture is in there too. If not useful for anything else it could always be printed out and used to scare varmits, and small children.

Good luck Ed!!!!! I had a write up in the local paper on my bait & tackle shop and 3 mths later I had to close it. hope the same don't happen to you but theres a big difference between selling little worms and houses.

I have an office at home for both newspapers I write for and it usually works out well....I loved your story about the chicks under the desk tho! Sometimes when I am interviewing somebody like the governor or attorney general by phone and I'm sitting here barefooted in my boxer shorts and tee-shirt I have to smile and be doubly-thankful that we all don't have video phones!

Enjoyed it Ed and I can relate. I telecommute full time and moved from the house to a 10 X 16 outbuilding, and I too wander around the place with a cordless when I can. The Fed Ex guy is ALWAYS shaking his head, and getting holler'd at by the guineas!
