pressure cooker and canner questiongreenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread |
Have an old pressure cooker I picked up recently and wanted to find out more on it.Names wore off but ended in ..MAID.It's oval.Anyone know about it?
Got a canner with it.Two for one.Canner was what I was wanting,to run two canners at the same time when processing foods. It was missing the weight. It's a Presto.Online source for parts, anyone know?
Thanks much.
Jim,I put this in Misc. Not exactly gardening and not recipes,so not sure where to go with it.New category? In the Kitchen or Food processing? what?

Sharon, did you check with the hardware store for the weight? Around here they usually have several weights stuck back somewhere. Seems they get lost a lot. If your hardware store is one that has been in business for years, you might also be able to find out something about your oval canner. I kind of think there may be one around here somewhere that belonged to my grandmother, but I wouldn't swear to it. Good luck.

Sharon, did you find the weight for the Presto cooker? If not, I could look for one this week or next when I go to the bigger town near us. I've been "grounded" for about 2 months now, but my cousin gave me a car that runs better than mine, so as soon as I get it registered and inspected I'll be on the road again, so to speak. If you need a weight, let me know.

I think that the Lehman's catalog carries replacement weights.Lehmans

Could it be an American Maid? I think that's the brand Lehmans sells.Or it might be Mellingers that sells the American Maid.
Try both sites and see.
