E. Lane Core is deeply into being a Beautiful Catholic these days. Lots of poetry.Kappelman is still waxing eloquent for Information Week. My favorite quote comes from this article:

Bemused, I happen to know you worked with her and Ed Yourdon so don't deny it. You probably weren't paid, but you were right there beside them regardless. Heh, heh, heh, heh. That just made my day. I was always quite the polly, there, Mr. Tobler. I happened apon the original TB2K on Saturday morning, 1/1/2000, when I was in for work to watch a bunch of our systems, and nothing was going wrong (of course.) I had seen Ed Yourdon's book jacket in B&Kn a couple months before that, and had a good laugh. I decided to do an internet search to see what Mr. Yourdon was saying about the clean rollover, and found TB2K. The rest has been a lot of fun, although I've been gone from the forum and it's offspring off & on for a while.
I *did* work remotely with a notable Y2K kook by the name of Roleigh Martin in the IT dept of a large, large U.S. health care corporation for about 2.5 years. He was basically considered the company kook (though he was also a rather pleasant fellow, go figure.) We tried to figure out why he thought the world was coming to an end 1/1/2000, but then we just gave up and tolerated him.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I don't believe in coincidences (especially when both of them seemingly hail from the same part of the world).

OBVIOUSLY. BTW, for the "it didn't amount to a hill of beans, so why blame Diane? and who cares?" while claiming there was no "Meme" in effect. Remember this: Toasted-EY sold 250,000 books that were based on an outline that Gary Duct Tape had first. Hyatt sold 3 books on the "problem" plus tons of food. Even Bruce Webster copied the 'doubts and fears' (read FUD) into a book that came out too late. We know that was only part of how the MEME was spread. The web sites and lists of such wonders as Roleigh "I'm devoted to promoting Selana as the greatest singer ever' Now Twit. No sooner was one "report" spotted then it was echoed from site to site faster than Clark Kent could change clothes.However, what the Doomzie DENIALIST leave out is this, towards the Spring of 1999 as Y2k began to fade after the Senate report, many of the 'other sites" and their 'leaders' moved onto Hyatt and Yourdon's Time Bombs because NO BODY ELSE WOULD LISTEN TO THEM no matter how much they bleated. (thing sheeple here).
That was why at the end, what Squires did and what "Big Dog" did was so reprehensible. In stifling any semblance of debate except in straw man setups or dismissing the Hoff v. Heve Steller, they KEPT THE STUPIDITY GOING.
After that, to stifle any attempts to get to EY and DEMAND he "SPLAIN", they closed off all the voices by censuring them, deleting posts etc. By then their game was up. Dog who we now know for what he is and Diane overstayed while Yourdon ran off to a 'permission only to post" site where few could hold him responsible. NORTH was smarter because he did what he always does when wrong, 'I'm sorry I was so wrong.......and left out is the 'until the next End of the World Crisis, good bye". Then the 'Moderators" hid behind SleezEY where they gathered some of the Net's BIGGEST NUTZ. UNTIL, almost un-noticed, they slunk off to "get on with their lives" NEVER ONCE .......EXPLAINING OR ADMITTING THEY WERE WERE WRONG.
NOT WRONG IN THE GARY NORTH SENSE because even GN allowed his own forum to run down with people calling him a Flake. WRONG in the sense they would DARE CENSOR ANYONE after having been SO WRONG in a Fascistic manner where ANY OPPOSITION WAS TREATED AS THE ENEMY. So for all of them I have nothing but complete disgust and they deserver EVERY BIT OF THE CONTEMPT THEY EARNED.
And their "friends" who defend them have earned as much disgust because they.....ARE STUPID, IGNORANT AND PROUD OF THAT.
