Background: Database Administration (DBA), a unit within IT Infrastructure Services, is responsible for providing technical specialists to staff company-wide IT projects. Unit activities include, but are not limited to providing database administration, technical support and software maintenance for database systems and tools on UNIX and NT systems.
Key Functions: SQL Server Database Administration. The position will be a member of the IT Infrastructure Services, Database support team, providing DBA support for relational databases. As a member of this team you will perform system DBA activities, assist with database development, perform technical evaluations of new database applications and participate with development teams to help implement database technology. Responsibilities include: DBA functions, as well as after hours ''on call'' support on a rotating basis; ability to train and coach others in technical subject areas; database development and design; perform special studies and technical evaluations, documenting and publishing results.
Requirements: BS/BA related field and 2 years experience. Advanced knowledge of MS SQL Server or ORACLE database administration; 1-2 years UNIX or NT experience; self-motivated and strong team player; strong communications skills - verbal and written; ability to plan, coordinate and set priorities; willing and able to travel on occasion.
