What is Poe's relationship to Lenore, who was she? And also some background about "the raven"

First read Poe's description of how he wrote "The Raven" in his essay "The Philosophy of Composition". These can be found at www.eapoe.org. Lenore is a fictitious name. Mainly it exemplifies the highest subject for inspiration of poetry for Poe, the untimely death of a young woman. At this point in his won life his wife was very much alive. He had lost a out in prior romances. His mother stepmother and an encouraging friend, Mrs. Stanard had all died, but Leonore or Helen or Ligeia etc. do not represent an inspiring historical character so much as an ideal fiction. "Eulalie","Annabel Lee" , and "Ulalume" do seem to deal with his deceased wife. A couple of other poems do seem to deal with his "loss" of Ellen Royster, his first real courtship.
