Just wanted to report that almost 3 weeks ago I received an order of chicks from Murray McMurray hatchery. I ordered 25 Anconas and received 27 Anconas and 1 free exotic that I can't yet identify. All 28 chicks were alive and healthy (until a racoon snatched 3 of them from the dog crate in which they were housed). The surviving 25 are thriving, and I put them out in the chicken tractor (heavily fortified with electric fence wire after the fox ate my last chickens!) 3 days ago. These chicks are going to be very tame, 'cause coincidentally we got our first rain in over 2 months on the very day that I put them out. It has been storming heavily every day since, and last night I had to put them into a cage with a lamp because they got wet. Out again this morning. In, out, in, out. I'm going to be very busy at this rate, but the chicks are sure getting used to being handled! I placed my order on Friday night, online, and had the chicks early Monday am. So, if anyone is looking to buy chicks my experience with MM has been very positive.

We live about 35 miles from Murry McMurray hatchery and I've gotten my chicks there for years. Like you, they've always been healthy and we've been happy with them. It's really fun to go to the hatchery and pick them up because you can buy all kinds for 25 cents each. That was 2 years ago so maybe a little more now.

We have ordered from them for ten years and were always pleased with the service and quality of chicks. This year we ordered through our local farm supply store because it was cheaper and we wanted to support a business in our community (we lived in another state when we use to order from Murry McMurry and couldn't find local chicks).

I ordered chicks from Murray McMurray a few years ago (about 3 I think). One chick was dead upon arrival and one died 2 days later. They refunded my money for the lost chicks with no hassle. The rest of them thrived and were nice calm chicks. I still have several of them now and have raised my own from them. I got mostly Barred Rocks and a few of different breeds just for fun. We never did figure out what the surprise chick was. When it was full grown it looked like an eagle (no joke). It was a reddish/burgandy color as a chick, but was marked like an eagle and had similar eyes when it was mature. I looked through their entire catalog and found nothing that looked like it. It was fun trying to figure it out though. We live a long way from Murray McMurray and I was very pleased with their service-- if I order chicks again, they'll get my business!!!

Murray-McMurray has been a standard here for many years. We live in north-eastern Wi. They also have wonderful Old English Bantams.
