Basically video CD are made based on mpeg-1 format. But why those cd don't have the movie files simply in mpeg format, instead, they only have the files in video data format. What's the difference between these two? I have mpeg play which doesn't support video data file. So how can I covert video data into mpeg file?

You can use VCDgear to convert .DAT to .MPEG file. This is a freeware. Go get it at: http://www.vcdgear.com/download.html
